On 2003-07-25, Erik rated this Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Pro Platinum a 5...(1887)

Purchase: I purchased this putter used at Bonaventure Golf Store in Savannah, GA for $150. 9.5 out of 10 condition.
Pros: I have been playing a couple of rounds of golf per year for 7 years. That is until golf fever hit me late last year. I recently have been breaking 100 consistently and decided to analyze my strokes per round to determine where I could improve the most. 3-putting was the weakness. I started researching clubs and decided to purchase the Scotty Cameron Newport 2. I immediately took it to the practice green to try it out, using my old putter as a reference. The difference was unbelievable. The weight distribution and balance were the first noticeable differences. The second major difference is the feedback of the ball striking the face. After a couple putts, I was able to dramatically improve my distance accuracy. The alignment line also made aiming very easy. I now consistently 2 putt most holes. This is due to my inability to read greens well. I can almost always get the ball within a few inches of the cup. Aiming is almost always where I intend it to be. Can't say enough about this putter.
Cons: Performance-wise, nothing. The only drawback is having to maintain the putter with the supplied Titleist oil cloth. The Pro Platinum is not as prone to rust as the Stainless, but because the club is so beautiful, I am very protective of it.
Quality: Top notch. The only flaw is that the paint in the grooves seems to fall off quickly.

Review Summary: I have spent 100's of dollars on drivers, why not a putter as well? It accounts for more strokes per round than my driver. Worth the lowered scores and confidence you will gain on the greens.
