Details: I had the putter set up for my hight and swing by the golf Pro that is giving me instruction. My putter has a 34' shaft with a 350 gram head and D3 swing weight. It has 4 degree loft and 71 degree lie.

Purchase: Picking a putter is really something that is unique to your own style of putting. I have a stroke that goes straight back and straight through the ball. I like to follow the ball with my putter and then hold my stroke at the end making sure that I make a complete stoke. My ball tends for roll over the top from the moment of impact. The best type of putter for this type of stroke I am told is a face balanced putter. Face balanced means that the weight of the head is directly behind the axis of the shaft. The putter I had been using is a Scotty Cameron toe balanced putter and I was told in a recent lesson that this is better for an in out stroke. So I switched to a Newport 2.6 face balanced putter. Still a Scotty Cameron but with a little longer shaft and a center shafted slightly heaver head. After getting my new putter I have taken 3 more lessons. I expect that when I get my new index next month I will be one and a half to two points lower than the 8.2 index I have been carrying this year. I bought my putter used for 187.00 at Golfsmith.
Pros: While I never have been one to think new equipment is the answer I do believe it is smart to be properly fitted for equipment. The new Titleist Studio putters are offered in five different length and weight combinations to accommodate any putting style. I have learned it is important to have a properly weighted head on your putter that is matched with the length of your shaft. I am seeing a marked improvement and would recommend this line of putters to any golfer.
Cons: There was nothing I did not like about this unit. I love it. I had a Scotty Cameron putter and was able to sell it for more than I paid for my new putter. So I am happy that Scotty Cameron Putters hold their value.
Quality: The unit is well built and designed for the serious golfer that wants to get a putter that fits his or her stroke.

Review Summary: This has been a real learning experience for me. It started with a lesson and finding out what kind of swing I have and learning what I need to do to perfect it. In the process I found I had the wrong type of putter for my stroke. I have taken some lessons and in the last 4 rounds I have taken 2 to 3 strokes off my score by reducing putts. Putting for me is where the majortiy of my strokes are taken so obviously where I can shave the most strokes off my game.
