On 2008-10-13, DON rated this Sharpro P T O Half Cord a 4...(8188)

Details: Black and red, half cord grip. P T O stands for Pro Tour Only.

Purchase: Got this grip to try it and see if it's as good as some others that I like. cost is $3 per grip
Pros: This is a pretty good grip. It's lighter than most, so it will raise the swing weight of your club a point or two. I like half cord grips, and this one looks rather nice. The grip provides a very good purchase on your club. It doesn't get slick after a few rounds. like some OEM grips I've had.
Cons: Two main complaints. First is that the grip is not perfectly round. If you install the grip and measure the diameter of your club, you will find the diameter will vary as much as .020' out of round. Not good, but not a real big problem, as it's hard to feel the difference. Second complaint is that the cord section of the grip wears out faster than other cord grips I've used. It doesn't get slick, but the cord that is imbedded into the grip seems to wear away. What's left is more or less a non- cord grip.
Quality: Out of round some what. Looks very good.

Review Summary: This is a pretty good grip, with a few issues. The cord section wears away faster than other cord grips I've used. so the value is less than I expected. I really like the fact that this grip is lighter than most, as this helps to increase the swing weight of a club. I can change a D2 club to D4 just by changing the grip, which is real nice feature. Being out of round hasn't been a problem and I've never noticed it on a club, just when I measured. Some golfers don't like a cord style grip, and for them this grip might be perfect. It provides a more solid hold on a club than a non-cord grip will, and once it wears a little. I doubt too many golfers would have a problem with it being too rough on their hands. which is the common complaint some golfer have with a cord grip. I'm giveing this grip a 4 rating. It's a 5 when new. I'll give it a 3 for wearing out too soon, overall a 4.
