Details: Skycaddie SG2.5 Golf GPS

Purchase: Bought at Golf Galaxy for $249
Pros: This was an 'upgrade' from a SkyCaddie SG3. The SG3 was slow in finding courses and sometimes slow getting to an exact yardage. The sg2.5 is super fast at pinpointing the course you are playing and works even when I put it in my pocket. Pull it out, it has the yardage waiting on me, whereas the Sg3.0 was not that way. The 2.5 has all the features of the 5.0 (minus the color screen) and is smaller and $150 cheaper. I'll take that anyday. The screen was pretty easy to rad even in the sun, though not through polarized sunglasses
Cons: So everyone will say they hate the annual membership SkyGolf charges, but at least they have a revenue stream to stay in business. Those companies that live just on hardware sales might find the next few years sort of tight money-wise. But back to the SG2.5. The screen is shorter than the Sg3 which means I have to do a little more work to get yardages on all the targets on a hole. That may be scrolling or clicking on a specific target. but I can live with that. otherwise, no real complaints. I wish they provided some sort of case for the unit to protect it a little but those are available for purchase as an extra.
Quality: So far, looks to be top quality.

Review Summary: Having used SkyGolf GPS's for years, the 2.5 is a nice unit. Fast, small, affordable. not much more to want. Sure it doesn't have all the extra features of some GPS' like score keeping, stats, etc, but it's a GPS, it's fast, affordable and small. I can live with keeping my score and stats on a scorecard.
