Purchase: I bought them for myself last year as components. Heads were about $12.50 each, and I put Royal Precision R flex shafts in them (shafts were about six bucks each), and Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips. Pros: They have a nice look to them, with not too much offset, and a very large head and cavity. They have slot behind the cavity so that weight is moved back from the face. Cons: While forgiving, hits just don't feel solid. The ball doesn't go any longer than you'd expect, and the ball flight is very high. Quality: Good construction, with a chromed finish on 431 stainless steel. Review Summary: I bought these to get more forgiveness. Unfortunately, the feel on hits is poor, and the ball flight is quite high.
If you simply want forgiveness and a high flight, then try 'em. The offset is not all that much, so you would think you could work the ball, but it just goes straight and very high. Hard to get that sweet solid feel even when you 'pure' it.

Purchase: Purchased these from Golfsmith on sale at $7.97 per head. Saw these in the Golfsmith catalog and was attracted to the deep cavity design, style and most importantly, the thin topline. I wanted to find forgiving (yet workable) irons that didn't look chunky and awkward like many current game improvement irons.
Removed the old iron heads from my TT shafts and put these new DC-01 heads on myself. Pros: The irons look great, but even greater is the feel. The softer 431 heat treated steel and the undercut cavity gives me the feeling that I'm making contact with wiffle balls. I tried a bunch of irons (even expensive brand names) at local golf shops and did not experience the same soft feel. The forgiveness of these clubs is also incredible. I never hit shots so consistently straight with my old clubs.
Shots are slightly longer and higher also. Cons: Can't think of anything negative to say about these clubs. Quality: Snake Eyes components have always had superior quality and construction over cheap clones or knockoffs. Whenever I went to any review site or discussion forum, I always saw "high quality" and high satisfaction when people talked about Snake Eyes.
I now echo their feelings. Review Summary: These are superb irons. I just wish I had built them earlier in the season. I'm extremely glad I chose to assemble a set that looks, feels and performs as good or better than a set costing much more.

Purchase: I bought these as component at a Golfsmith store. The heads were $12.95 each, although they have gone down since to $7.97 each because they are last years model. I used Royal Precision Rifle Shafts, about $13.50 each, and Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips, about $2.00 each. For those of you who are not fond of math, that's about $228., but since the price of the heads has since dropped, if you bought the components today, Sept. 2004, you would pay about $188. I assembled them myself. Pros: The head is large with the weight distributed low and deep in the sole by using the "undercut" cavity method. What I like about these is that, although the head is large and forgiving, the offset is minimal. This is a combination that is seldom found in most pro-line equipment.
Most companies have small-headed models with minimal offset, and larger-headed models with too much offset. It is refreshing to find a model that has a large, forgiving head without the tremendous offset.
The head is made of heat-treated 431 steel, so it has a good feel. This steel has a much better feel than 17-4 steel, which would be used in most clubs in this price range. This steel is softer, and with the minimal offset, you get the ability to work the ball, yet it is still in the forgiving category. Cons: In appearance, this club reminds me of Ben Hogans' undercut channel models, but Hogans are made with forged steel and play softer than these (of course, Hogans will probably cost you three times as much, and the grooves will wear out sooner due to the carbon steel used). Quality: This is a high quality club. Snake Eyes are affiliated with the Golfsmith company, which makes high quality clubs, some models even played by PGA touring pros.
These are not cheap knock-offs or clones, but rather original design which are built to strict standards when it comes to specifications. Review Summary: These are excellent clubs for the player who wants a larger than average and more forgiving clubhead, yet doesn't want the large amount of offset that often accompanies these clubs.
The Rifle is an excellent shaft, and I would recommend it if you are choosing a new shaft, but I would say that they play just slightly stiffer than expected.
