On 2004-02-15, Charlie C rated this Snake Eyes Quickstrike 22* a 5...(2837)

Purchase: It was a Christmas present from my parents, who purchased it new from Ebay. They had it made with a stiff Quickstrike graphite shaft, cut to 41.5", and a Lampkin Crossline grip.
Pros: It is nearly perfect. This thing is so easy to hit well that I can hardly believe it's legal. When I make bad swings the ball still seems to find a straight, 4 iron like trajectory. I can max it out at about 220 yards (carry), but can also reliably vary my distance down to about 165 by choking down and/or playing a big fade. With this versatility I can leave my 3, 4 and even 5 iron at home and carry a full set of wedges In spite of the forgiveness and ease of hitting straight shots, this club is extremely workable. Towering fades are a piece of cake. I can also close it a bit and play a low draw but with a little less accuracy. I've hit it from bare dirt, sparse, dead rough, lush heavy rough, and mucky spots in the fairway, and the results have been predictable. There are very few situations that the Quickstrike can't be made to work in.
Cons: Theres little not to like. I didn't care for the Lamkin Crossline so it's at the shop right now getting a midsize Winn wrap installed. I've had small amount of trouble with balls going left when I try to really lean on it or play a draw due to the small offset and slightly closed set up. It's taken some work to hit controlled draws, but I quickly figured out how to go for maximum distance straight shots...just a matter of not overpowering the shaft with my right hand.
Quality: Impeccable quality. I can't find a flaw. It doesn't really fit the mold of a true "trouble" club since I went with a longer graphite shaft. I was basically going for a 7 wood to replace my 3 iron (I found that it does much more than that). Folks who want to use it as more of a rescue club would probably go with a shorter steel shaft.

Review Summary: If more people were open to trying these clubs, I'm certain that they'd be present in 90% of the bags in this country. It is so easy to hit and so versatile it's just ridiculous. It will improve the game of anyone willing to stick in their bag.
