On 2005-04-18, So easy to hit. rated this Sonartec MD Transition 21* a 5...(5406)

Purchase: This club sells for $199 in the stores. I was fortunate enough to win it in a contest. It is a replacement for the hard to hit 3 iron.
Pros: I had already replaced my 3 iron with a Snake Eyes hybrid a couple years ago, so I wasn't looking for a new hybrid. As I said, I happened to win this club. It just happens to be light years better than the old hybrid I had, and the old one wasn't bad. This club feels incredibly solid when you hit it, even on mishits. My old Snake Eyes 22* was a help and an improvement over a three iron, but this Sonartec is fantastic, no kidding. The ball flight does not balloon at all. As a matter of fact, it hits the ball on an extremely penetrating ball flight, just like a really well struck 3-iron would do. The difference is that this thing does it almost automatically. I hit every single ball, every one, straight at the target when I was at the range (and believe me, that wasn't happening with the other clubs). The ball went about 200 yards for me (I swing a driver 90 mph). Sometimes I hit the club thinly, but the shots still went straight at the target, losing about ten yards due to a slightly lower flight and the fact that there is little roll on a driving range that doesn't keep the grass cut like a fairway.
Cons: The headcover could be slightly easier to get on and off, and it could extend a little farther down the shaft to protect the shaft from rubbing against the collar of the bag.
Quality: Superb except for the grip, which is very subjective. The head is terrific and feels super solid on hits. The shaft is the UST IROD hybrid shaft, except it is Sonartec's blue instead of the stock red. The grip is like a Tour Velvet grip, not my favorite kind. I replaced it for a grip with more tackiness in the feel department.

Review Summary: I think that this has got to be the best hybrid out there on the market.
