Details: just a little squarish box with an LCD screen on it that you sit on the ground near the ball

Purchase: Bought this unit online on their website (www.swingspeedradar.com/ssrwithtempotimer.html) for about $150. ordering and delivery were pretty painless though I did have to talk to someone there to complete the order. The website is pretty basic. But it helped because since I was also going to use this for softball, they included some hanging clips for me to mount the unit with.
Pros: Well, this is pretty basic. Set it up near the ball (this take some trial and error), turn it on, and swing. Then it%27ll tell you how fast your swing speed was. You do have to play with the exact positioning of the unit in relation to the club and the ball. for example, if the unit it too far in front, it might measure the ball speed and not your swing speed. But the device did a good job of giving me an idea of what my swing speed was. Do I think it%27s 100% accurate no. See the negatives below and I %27ll tell you why
Cons: So, because positioning of the unit is SO critical to getting an accurate measurement, i think you can only use this to get a general range of your swing speed and to work on increasing it. will it give you a definitive number? Sure? Will it be slightly different the nxt time you put the unit somewhere other than the exact spot you did this time? probably, but only 1 or 2 MPH. So for me, when I started and I could see I was consistently hitting around 103-104MPH. And I could work and get to 107-108MPH and that was good because it showed me what my swing would have to be like to get there. And I could monitor the results of that %27new%27 or %27faster%27 swing and see if I liked them.
Quality: Seems like it was pretty solid construction though the bag it comes with is pretty thin. otherwise it%27s good

Review Summary: I think something like this is worth having OR better yet, having a friend who has one (kinda like a boat!). I have not used it too much this year but early in the year I worked with it to get a feel for where I was and what I needed to do to get more speed, so I could see if I wanted to do that. I now have a swing I can call on when I need to that I know will be faster and I generally know how the ball flight will be. Do I use it often? no, but will on any long drive holes in my local tournaments or something like that or when I have a wide open straight hole.
