Purchase: Purchased from SecondSwing Golf for $450 as 'used' but they didn't look like they had ever tocuhed a ball. I was looking for a forgiving, game improvement club with graphite shafts and was impressed with the design of this set.
Pros: The clubs feel well balanced and are very forgiving. I am able to generate the same distances with a more controlled swing speed which improves accuracy. The clubs seem to hit very straight shots with a moderate trajectory. They may not be the best clubs for 'working the ball', but there is nothing wrong with straight and long! The clubs are beautifully designed and well manufactured.
Cons: The Lamkin Crossline grips that came on the clubs seem firmer and less 'velvety' than the Lamkin Crosslines I buy and install myself. The grips also seem to have a slight rib down the back, that I had doubts about when I purchased the set, but I have learned to use it as a grip alignment tool in my setup. I originally planned to switch the grips, but now I think I'll keep them - the harshness of the material is offset by the functionality of the rib. So this doesn't really qualify as something I don't like.
Quality: The clubheads have a moderate topline and moderate offset, which contribute to a very comfortable and confident set up. The sole is fairly broad with a notched cavity back and weight distributed at the toe and heel. It looks like some significant physics went into the design. The heads are nicley finished in a very attractive, modern style.
The 68 gram 3.8 degree torque grahpite sharfs are stunning!! They have a translucent paint job with blue and green flakes that shimmer in the light.
The attractive grips are a little harsh (see comments above), but I have learned to appreciate the rib as an alignment aid.
Review Summary: I'm glad I made the switch to a bigger head and graphite shafts - I'm getting too old to hit the little steel shafted blades anymore. I think this is an excellent club for mid-handicappers with slower swing speeds. They might be a great club for tall women too. I think the shaft/head combo will be too whippy for fast swing speeds low handicappers might be better served with a different design.
