Purchase: I had some on hand, and wanted to give them another try with my current set of irons. Don't remember what I paid for them.
Pros: Very nice feel on all shots, driver down to wedges. Nice distance and putts very well. Good spin on approach shots.
Cons: Cover tears way to easily. I took a drop with a new ball, hit out of bounds, and played the Tour Soft Had 88 yards to the flag so I hit my 60* wedge onto the green. When I looked at the ball, there was a small black line where the cover had been cut thru to the mantle layer. One shot with a wedge was all it took to cut thru the cover.
Quality: Quality is very poor. the cover cuts way to easily.

Review Summary: Excelllent ball other than the terrible cover. I cut the cover with only one hit with my 60* wedge. Hate to think what would have happenend with a brand new wedge, rather than one this is a few years old. I ended up throwing the ball away after only 2 holes, it was so scuffed up. It doesn't matter if you play forged or cast set of irons, this ball will scuff up way to fast.

Purchase: Found these on sale for $9.99, down from $34.00 a dozen. Supposed to be a softer version of the tour Ace.
Pros: distance and spin is okay, as is the soft feel.
Cons: What I can't live with is how fast the ball scuffs up. Played 9 hole on a par 3 course a few weeks ago, and I totally destroyed 2 golf balls. Not one, but two, in 9 holes. After that, I decided to try the ball again on a regulation course with my new forged irons. I know my older cast irons are hard on balls with their sharp grooves. Well, I played two holes, a par 4 and a par 3, and the ball looked like it had been used for 18 holes, not just 2. It seems it wasn't just my old irons, even the new forged irons scruff up the ball a lot.
Quality: Quality sucks. Any time I can scuff up a ball this much with a 7 iron, it's a pretty bad ball. You don't want to see what a wedge will do to the cover. Peels it right off.

Review Summary: Save your money, this ball doesn't last long enough to lose it. You'd need at least 4 balls just to play 18 holes, and they would be totally worn out and ready for hitting on the driving range. Cover is total junk. Even if you only hit a 6 iron 100 yards or so, like some real short hitters, you will scuff up this ball too fast. Worse ball I have ever played.

Purchase: Purchased at a Wal-Mart in Chelmsford, MA. I bought these balls because of the great reveiw that Golfclubreview.com gave to the Top-Flite ML Tour ball (according to Top-Flite, the Strata Tour Soft is "virtually" the same ball sold under the Strata brand). I paid $19.95 for a dozen.
Pros: This is my first try at a "soft" ball, although the Tour Soft's PGA compression of 80 is hardly as low as other "low compression" balls such as the NXT Tour Noodle or the Loco. Distance was fantastic compared to other balls I've played. And the feel was really great, too.
Cons: When I played a normal 9 holes, there was absolutely NOTHING to dislike, but bear in mind that I'm a mid-handicapper, so my game isn't perfectly consistent. When a ball bounds off of the green, it's probably my fault and not a problem with the ball. But I had so much fun that I took it out to an "Executive par 3 course" the next day (average hole length about 100 yards). I like this course because on the longer holes (110-120), it gives me a chance to really whale on the pitching wedge. After a few longer holes, I noticed some pretty substantial shredding and bite marks. I was shocked because I'm not a hard hitter (which bums me out). On the other hand, on a normal course, I almost never hit a pitching wedge that hard; I use the nine-iron and lay off a little bit. But it's so much fun to hit this ball that I'm going to continue to use it on regular courses and I just hope that it holds up.
Quality: Everything about this ball is really first-rate. I just hope that it holds up under normal playing conditions.

Review Summary: VERY fun ball. Very enjoyable. Time will tell if the cover shreds under normal playing conditions.

Purchase: Bought a dozen for $19.99 at Wal-Mart, after reading good things about Strata balls.
Pros: I like just about everything about this ball, good distance off the tee and it flies straight which minimizes hooks and fades. Easy to get up into the air with long irons, and it sticks to the greens , usually only a few inches from where it lands. Seems to roll true off the putter too.
Cons: Nothing to dislike really.
Quality: Its a 3-piece ball with a "spin-tack" cover that is designed to give "one hop and stop" control on the greens. I have not noticed any problems with cutting or scuffing, so I am very happy with the quality of the ball.

Review Summary: I've searched for a long time for this ball, I wanted better control around the greens, but I don't hit super-long drives, so I didn't want to sacrifice distance. With the Tour Soft you do get good performance in all aspects of the game. At under $20 it is great value for money and I am going to keep it as my regular ball. I now have several boxes of Titleist and Maxfli balls in my closet that will probably never see a golf course again. This ball really is that good!

Purchase: Paid $19.99 a dozen at Academy. After reading a few reviews on this website I thought I would give them a try. I recently traded in my SZ Cobra 9 degree regular flex for a Taylor Made 580XD 10.5 degree regular flex. In doing so I wanted to find a substitute to my Callaway HX tour and ProV1's while I work out the kinks with my new driver. Personally performance around the green is more important than distance. (HX tours are longer for me than Pro V1's) So I was eager to try the 3 piece Strata for green performance as a possible replacement for 1/2 the price of HX tours and V1s.
Pros: Distance wise I found them to be just as long as a Pro V1 and HX tour. Not much sidespin. Kept my occasional gentle fade in check. Greens, pretty soft around the greens. I judge a ball for green performance when I blade a wedge and send a line drive screaming into the green. The Strata's bit some and came to a gentle rest on the green, they didn't bounce off like my Super Loco did. On a regular green shot they held pretty well. Checked and released but didn't roll off the green. Towards the end of the round I adjusted my short game to accomadate the check and release around the greens. Very happy with this ball. A reasonable alternative. The other reviews on this site were dead on.
Cons: Doesn't spin and check up as well as my favorite ball the HX tour but, it is a reasonable alternative. Adapt your short game to allow the release.
Quality: No scuffs or cuts in the cover and I hit a few trees and one cart path today. Good quality.

Review Summary: A good 3 piece winner from top flite. I am not a big Top Flite fan, played the Tour Ace and didn't like it, but for the price this one's a winner. Three piece technology for a high end two piece price. Great ball, I see myself buying this ball regularly.

Purchase: I was planning a trip to a course that has a very high and thick rough. Rumors are that every ball hit in the rough is lost. I was looking for an inexpensive three piece multilayer ball to replace my Pro-V1s for this course. I picked the Strata based on value alone. I paid full retail for these balls at Golfsmith, $19.99.
Pros: This ball was very impressive. The outer skin feels as soft as the Pro-V's, and it had very similar spin characteristics. Off the box the Tour Softs appeared to be similar in length to the Pro-V's, with similar control. The balls had a nice high trajectory off of my irons and checked up as good as any tournament ball on the market. Putting was true with a soft feel off the putter head. Distance control was superb.
Cons: The skin on the ball scuffs when hitting a cart path, but what balls don't.
Quality: Quality seems to be on par with many of the more expensive balls on the market. I don't check balls for balance so I couldn't comment on the consistancy of construction, but all the balls played the same on the course.

Review Summary: What I thought was a "cheap" ball replacement for my Pro-V's has turned into a permanent fixture in my bag. I now play these balls side-by-side with my more expensive balls. Kudos to Top Flite for providing such a valued high quality product.
