Purchase: Bought at GolfTown, Richmond, B.C., Canada for $50 CAD (approx $35 USD). I bought this more than six months ago to practice the golf swing at home. I was a beginner at that time. It is basically a free hanging golf ball attached to a metal "L" shaped post, mounted on a flat rectangular board. The top surface of the board has a layer of green felt carpet to mimic a teeing green.
Pros: It looked like the ideal device to practice your swing at home.
Cons: You can very easily ruin your clubs if you mis-hit the ball. I dented a couple of irons by hitting the board, even though I didn't swing fast. Since beginners easily miss-hit 20-30% of balls while practicing, I don't see how this device can help them - except ruin their clubs. I stopped using the swing groover after just a couple of days for fear of damaging more clubs.
Quality: Good quality. Solid construction.

Review Summary: DO NOT buy this unit if you are a beginner. You will almost certainly destroy one or more clubs. If you are experienced and all you want to do is practice swinging in slow motion at home, then this unit is for you. For beginners who want to practice swinging at home, I recommend you buy a hitting or teeing mat (the really thick rubber kind with plastic fake turf on top). You can practice your swing by hitting on a rubber tee without destroying your clubs.
