On 2008-12-27, DON rated this Swing Rite Swing Rite a 5...(8250)

Details: This is the original Swing Rite. Steel shaft club with a training grip

Purchase: I got this to try it out and see if it really helps. Price is $125, You can get it from www.SwingRite.com. This unit is designed to help a golfer release the club and generate more club head speed through impact. Comes with either a standard style grip or a training grip. Ladies size grip also avallable in pink.
Pros: This is one of the few training aids that really work to improve your swing and your game. What I like about this training aid is that it's adjustable to fit just about any skill level golfer. No matter what your swing speed is, it can be adjusted to fit your swing. It also will fit into your bag when you go to the range or the course with out being in the way. Also works very well to get louse before you start hitting balls The way it works is very simple. It has a spring loaded release device that holds a sleeve in place. When you swing the club, you creat centifical force, and when you creat enough force, it releases the sleeve and it slides down the shaft to the tip of the shaft and it makes a clicking noise. The idea is the have the club 'click' just past impact with your practice swing. If you don't use a full wrist cock and late release, you will have a hard time getting it to 'click' properly. And this is how you know if you are making a good powerful swing or not. Once you have the idea of how to swing this training aid, you can adjust the tension of the release device and work on proper timing of your swing. It's very easy to tell if you're making a powerful swing or not, just be whether or not you get the 'click' to work.
Cons: Nothing not to like. It works very well
Quality: Quality is very good. The grip is holding up very well after a lot of use. The whole thing looks likd new after months of hard use.

Review Summary: There are not a lot to training aids I'd recommend, but this is one of the best. It really does work as advertised. I loaned it to someone at the range trying to teach his wife to release the club coming into impact. He didn't want to use it until I told his this is exactly what the Swing Rite is designed to help with. I had him try it a few times, and he decided to let his wife try it. Sure enough, after only a few swings, she could feel what she had to do to get a good late release, and her swing was much improved with only a few minutes work. Her husband was very impressed after he gave it a chance and saw how much it helped his wife. I use it every time I hit balls to re-inforce my late release and to loosen up. I've had my wife use it, and it's helped her game just even more. She's now hitting the ball a good bit longer due to a later release and higher swing speed. Very easy to use, and easy to tell when you get a good release and a good swing.
