Purchase: I recently purchased a Taylor Made r7 Quad driver that was fitted with a Fujikura Tour Release Series graphite shaft. I was not sure how the driver would react with the standard cartidges provided with the driver. During an internet search I came across an advertisment for the Quad upgrade kit. The kit comes with additional cartidges that provides many more launch angels, swing types and swing weights. I purchased the upgrade kit at a golf discount internet sales wharehouse for $149 with free shipping.
Pros: The kit comes with a new swing wheel that has three different swing weights including light, standard, and heavy. The swing wheel also has a variety of different ball flights and launch conditions. The wheel is first adjusted for what swing weight is desired and then it is adjusted for launch angle and ball flight. The correct cartridge combination is displayed in a window.
The kit comes with twelve additonal cartridge weights that can be used to adjust for the various wheel displays. A hard carrying case is provided for the weights.
A torque wrench for installing the cartridges is not provided with the kit.
The torque wrench originally provided with the Quad driver is supposed to be used. A place is provided in the carrying case for storing the torque wrench.
Many more variations are possible than with the original cartridges provided with the Quad driver. The Quad head is so heavy that simply changing grips can drastically change the swing weight.
I was able to adjust the swing weight and ball flight on my Quad that I am very comfortable with.
The hard carrying case is easy to store and can fit into a pocket in your golf bag.
Cons: The new swing wheel is huge. Very cumbersome to store. Keep the wheel in the plastic storage bag and place it your car glove compartment or in a side pocket of your golf bag.
Not sure if 12 cartridges in a hard storage case is worth $150 but certainly not inconsistent with most golf equipment - i.e., expensive.
Quality: Very well constructed and durable package.
Review Summary: Provides an upgrade of the original Quad to the new Quad TP without having to buy a new driver.
If you are the type of golfer who changes drivers quite frequently this system is probably not a good investment.
