Details: Details: TaylorMade Burner TP golf balls. Three-piece -- core, mantle layer and ionomer-blend cover. Features a 342-dimple Low-Drag Performance (LDP) setup that aerodynamically improves of distance on off-center hits.
Purchase: Purchase: In my opinion, a very reasonably priced, good value ball at less than $25/dozen. They’re $24.99 at Edwin Watts Golf and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Pros: Pros: The goal was to find a ball that the senior player could get down the fairway a reasonable distance, but didn’t feel like a rock when it made contact with the clubface. TaylorMade (taylormadegolf.com) promises improved distance on off-center hits and I feel like that’s what’s happening.
Cons: Cons: Very few. You’re getting a good quality ball at a reasonable price and lots of people are using them, so how bad can they be? Quality: Quality: Have seen nothing to indicate any quality issues. TaylorMade has come a long way in their construction of balls. Review Summary: Review summary: Better players and those who create good clubhead speed may benefit most from this ball. But for the player who’s looking for a better ball without paying $40 or $50 a dozen, this is a good choice.

Details: Well, certainly liked the TP Black, and certainly did not like the cheap Burner Red, so I tried the middle road cost of the Buner TP (silver box). First of all, if TaylorMade acually ever reads this...HEY TAYLORMADE: How about some actual ball information ON THE BOX. What's with the nano-graphics on the back off the box? They all say the same thing. How about telling us the difference between the Burner and the Burner TP??..no, well can you tell us the difference between the Burner TP and the Black TP...er, well how about the differnce btween the TP Black and the TP Red?..no? well, maybe it's in the fine print...nope, all the same mumbo-jumbo. I guess we just have to buy all the models until we figure them out. Well. I figured out the Burner TP. Save your money, to me there are much better balls out there for $25. (Brdgestone E6, Precept U-TRI-tour). This ball is Hard, dead and does not respond favorably to a fade. I mixed a few B330-s and U-TRi Tours in my game today and I could sure tell when I hit this Burner. The worst part is I still have 3 sleeves of these left over. Hey TAYLORMADE..I'll give you 9 Burners for 1 TP Black..
Purchase: Golfsmith for $24.95 Pros: still thinking Cons: hard, no feel, turns a fade into a slice, does nothing well. Quality: OK well it did hold up OK Review Summary: Pass on this one On 2008-01-22, David Bazooka Hammerstein rated this TaylorMade Burner TP a 5...(8002)
Details: The speculation is that the Maxfli Tour Fire became the TP version of the Burner ball for 2008. Who could blame them? The Burner is the hottest name in all of golf. That driver nearly outpaces all others combined. The high tech dimples are most likely the part that changed from the Tour Fire to the Burner TP, because they're hyping the same middle/mantle layer, (HPF SpeedMantle) AND the same cover material (Lothane). In the new GOLF Mag. comparing all the new brands of balls, there's no Maxfli at all. Just TaylorMade and 'Noodle'. Fire and Tour Fire it seems, never caught “fire”...but were really good products which got generally good or great reviews. TaylorMade is just that powerful of a brand that the once-proud Maxfli name gradually morphed into their bargain brand. Calling a ball TaylorMade resulted in their staff players immediately switching to them. Probably all the same people as Maxfli, just new paint jobs.
Purchase: I bought a dozen of these after seeing them in an article, a fluff piece in a golf magazine, touting the new technology in the Burner balls. They were $24.99/doz. I love trying new balls and always focus on the performance ball category. 20-30 bucks usually. So I've tried them all. (Berthas, AD333, Hogan Hawk, HX Hot, Loco, Mojo, Noodle, e5, e6, Ignite, Fire, NXT and NXT Tour, Pinnacle Exception) Pros: The feel and the control are the things I like the most. These are really incredible feeling. It is a workable, soft ball. The price for the quality is awesome! It is as good as anything out there. A great value. If you have trajectory issues these will help get it up. That would appear to be the result of the 'new' dimple design that they're hyping. These will improve your short game. I swear, it is so smooth. The ball is amazing off the putter. Feels soft and solid. It rolls true and is very stable...even on the bumpy Muni's I play. Easily the best of the category in the short game. It will go when you hit it hard, and it will land soft and chip and putt beautifully. Cons: I don't have trajectory issues, I hit it high regardless and felt sometimes it came down very steep and may have been a tad shorter than some of the other 3-piece distance balls. It's a blessing with the short irons and wedges. It sticks, which the trajectory helps with. So it is to be considered... BUT!... that's if I'm being nit-picky. Quality: Awesome quality! Bright white, cool logo and paint. Gear heads who try everything will love this one and lots of people are gonna play it. NXT Tour and HX Hot Bite, at $5 more, are gonna suffer the big hit. Burner TP is well-built, VERY solid. They do have a good cover too, it is really soft and spin-able, yet won't shred to pieces on one good 9-iron. A great level of spin and durability. Pleasantly surprised. Review Summary: The softer ones among the longer 3-piece 'distance' types are my favorites. These are hyped as the creme-de-la-creme to compete with the best balls on the market, including the tour balls, but the high-end performance balls in a slightly lower price range specifically. $24.99-$30 (NXT Tour, HX Hot/Bite, e5+/e6+, Srixon Trispeed, Nike Ignite) They're perfectly priced for the quality of the ball. I’m guessing they’ll sell a TON of these @ $25 bucks! As long as all but longest rocks on the planet, and tour soft. They are phenomenal with the putter and wedges. Let's face it, most mid-handicappers do a lot of chipping to missed greens, these do it all around the green, and roll really true off the putter... as good off the putter as any in the category, or in any category. A great ball, and insanely good deal. ProV1, Nike One, Callaway Tour i, and TaylorMade TP are gonna suffer too. A five '5' is only given on occasion and this ball is a 5. For the money--it's a 6.
