Purchase: Balls were free as a gift of sorts so no cost. Pros: The ball was as long as most balls I play, including ProV1, Bridgestone B330 and e6+. Ball had a reasonably high trajectory for me and I had no trouble getting it airborne. Ball was fiarly soft off the putter face.
I liked that you could use the BurnerTP label on the side of the ball as an alignment aide while putting.
Ball didn't scuff or cut easily either.
Cons: Ball doesn't spin off the wedges as much as the ProV1 does. Spins about as much as the B330s but doesn't stop on a dime like the ProV1 can. Quality: Construction and quality seem very high. Review Summary: A ball worth trying, supposedly the longest ball in a recent Golf test. Cheaper than the ProV and is similar in functionality except it doesn't stop as quickly on the green from approach shots.

Details: OK, I did so well upgrading to the Bridgestone B330S, I thought I'd try some other premium balls. I think my game is just now getting to point where I can appreciate these balls, so it's been kind of fun trying them out. In any case I dropped by Golfsmith and picked up a sleeve of Nike ONE Platinum and a sleeve of TaylorMade TP Black. I really had to be talked into the Taylor Mades because last time I tried the 'burner' it might as well been a $8.00/doz. 2 piece distance ball. The golfsmith guy was pretty honest sounding so I gave the TP Black a try. WOW, it feels great. It's very long for me, longer than the B330S. I was out driving most players, and I play a fade. It's very soft. I could get used to this ball. My irons looked great biting and back spinning. What a ball. So having played the B330S, the TP Black and the Nike ONE PLat. all in one week, this is my impression. Order is from best to worst.
Drive distance - TP Black, B330S,..... Nike
Drive straightness- B330S, TP Black,.. Nike
Softness - TP Black, B330S, ..........Nike
Spin - TP Black, tie on B330S and Nike
Durability - all great
putting - TP Black, B330S, Nike
accurate w/ irons - B330S, TP and Nike Tie
So yeah, a great ball. Notice the B330S beats it only in drive straigthness and iron play for me...but those are very key for my game, so guess what I'll stick with B330S for now. But, If my game was just a smidgeon better, I think the TP Black would be the ball. BTY, the NIKE ONE PLat. was a dismal disappointment compared to these 2 other balls. I think 4 yrs of technology has left it in the dust. For me, the Nike One Plat was hard, and short off the tee. I don't think now I would pay even $20.00 for a dozen. Evidently there are lots of other good choices out there.
Purchase: Picked up a sleeve of each from Golfsmith ~ $10-12 ea. Pros: This ball is LONG, SOFT and SPINS for the irons. A pleasure to hit. Cons: NOTHING to dislike about it. Quality: seems to hold up, didn't tear, cut or mark in any way. Review Summary: TP Black equals great ball On 2008-01-15, Mike rated this TaylorMade TP Black a 5...(7994)
Purchase: Bought at Target on clearence for $21.00 Pros: Long, high flight with great control. Price here is a little cheaper than Pro v or Callaway and That's good, hope they stay that way. Box is cool. Cons: Nothing not to like. Hope that players can get over the fact that Taylormade has never made a good ball in the past and the pros don't use them. You know that statis quo stuff. Quality: Solid ball with a soft feel. Tough to scuff. Nice bright white ball that seems to stay that way. Review Summary: Bought a dozen on clearance, played whole round with one ball. Next day I went to three Different Targets to buy 6 more boxes. For the last three years i've been playing with Callaway HX and loved them, but these balls are longer, less likely to scuff, as soft around the greens and putt true. They fly at least 10-15 yards farther and have great control. If you get a chance give them a shot, at the very laest you won't say you wasted your money if you allready play a top ball. Details: TaylorMade TP Black golf balls
Purchase: Paid $39 for one dozen new balls at my pro shop. Looking for a better ball than the pro v1. Pros: This ball outplays pro v1x. Better Distance, Accuracy, and durability. The ball is easily 10-15 yards further than pro v1 or Callaway. Just played 2 rounds with same ball and it's still in great condition. These balls rock. I strongly recommend you try 1 sleeve. After that you decide. Cons: Nothing. This is a quality golf ball. Maybe they could be a few dollars cheaper, but overall they are in line with other balls of similar quality and performance. Quality: Excellent quality as is all TaylorMade products. Good durability. Review Summary: Excellent ball...will be playing it from now on. Beats all other performance balls on performance, price and durability. Try at least 1 sleeve and you will be a believer.
