Purchase: I bought the Taylor Made 540 XD at a sports authority for 250$. I decided to buy this club because i had been hitting with a driver with a regular shaft and i tended to hook the ball too much so i decided to buy a quality driver with a stiff shaft. I needed a club that will get me good distance and easy to hit because its important to have a consistant long, straight drive for the matches on my high schools golf team.
Pros: I love this club because of the excellent ball flight and trajectory it gets. I tend to either hit fairways or miss by just a few yards because this club is very forgiving. When the ball hits the fairway it tends to get a lot of roll as well which is why i got the 9.5 loft. The XD technology provides more distance and more important more confidence on the tee.
Cons: One bad thing about this club is the shaft that came with it is a good shaft but it is not strong and easily breaks. Yesterday i was at the range with a friend and i let him try my club of the grass tees. We were doing happy gilmore swings and he missed the ball horribly and hit the ground before the ball. The head snapped off and flew into these thorns along side the range. Reckless? Yes. But still everyone has a bad swing once in a while and may hit the ground and the shaft should be able to withstand that impact. It would be one thing if i had got this club a year ago and the shaft had been worn out, but believe it or not i purchased this club 2 weeks ago and it was pretty much brand new.
Quality: Could be better. However, if clubs breaks store should replace it.
