Purchase: Purchased this new, on sale at Chuck Browns in Ottawa, ON, $336 Cdn. They were on sale to make room for the upcoming TM R5 Quad series. I watched Mike Weir use it beautifully during 2004 Cdn Open, and felt it was time to unload my beloved Cobra SS-380. Big mistake.
Pros: I was able to sell it quickly
Cons: I couldn't hit this thing without major swing adjustments. I'm a moderate, smooth tempo player, and found this nearly impossible to work with. Lost everything right, and in competition, would close the clubface slightly, and gradually more than slightly, until I was hooking the ball low and left. Never did find the middle ground. Initially, I dislike the muted sound, and the mushy feel. I hit a few bombs (280-300), but never without adjustments, and always to my surprise. Much easier to stand up there with my trusty Cobra and just swing smooth, than to try to adapt to this, IMO, vastly overrated stick.
Quality: Nice to look at, until it drives you mad.

Review Summary: I'm going back to Cobra. It's certain that the 580 XD stiff just doesn't fit my swing. How much fault was owing to the shaft is hard to determine. The feel off the head was too muted for feedback, unlike my Cobra SS380 or, previously, my SS350, which, incidentally broke during competition (a rattling noise inside the head), but still continued to perform alright for the remainder of the round. Final analysis: Avoid spending your money on this one. I couldn't even get half what i paid within 6 months of buying it.
