On 2007-08-02, Anonymous rated this TaylorMade New Burner 460 a 1...(7880)

Details: Burner 10.5 with the stock regular flex 50 gram shaft.

Purchase: At a golf demo day in Richland, Washington. Paid $ 274.00 as a promo price. Retail is $299.00.
Pros: This is overall a very light feeling club with a moderately high swing weight of D-6!!!!! The shaft is stock 50 gram Fujikura in regular flex and a 42 gram grip. I just changed the grip to a 46 gram Golf Pride Decade Multi-Compound Cord Red. It had very little change to the manufacturer's swing weight. I found this club to be very long, solid in contact, good sound, (not like the beer can sound of the Nike Sumo Square!!!).It is very stable with off center hits. This IS a game improvement club and I found no one disliked this club when they tried mine out. It has a nice appearence at address with the black/silver web paint graphics, black and red/orange shaft with a grip I found to wear easily.
Cons: The grip is soft and not very tacky. It wears more quickly than other grips I know. I took care of that after 3 months of use with the stock grip. TaylorMade touts that the light 42 gram grip lowers total club weight and therefore should increase swing speed. Actually, just swing 85% and hit it on the sweet spot and you will be pleased!
Quality: Excellent with nice paint job with attractive design on the head and shaft. Grip is the only issue as stated.

Review Summary: Try this out before you buy anything. I think you will be very happy that you did. This is a excellent choice for all golfers with proficient golf skills to the dedicated beginner. The regular shaft swing speed range is 70-105 mph which covers a wide group of golfers folks. We all think we swing faster than we actually do. Enjoy!
