Purchase: I acquired my R5 on Ebay for $99 + $10.95 shipping and it was in near new shape. Pros: I took it out and simply blasted it long and straight. I've tried about everything out there, but hadn't tried this club. I would say it is as long as the R5 and simply fun to hit. At the country bunkin driving range I go to near me it is 285 to the weeds in back. Normally I put maybe 3 in them with a bucket of balls. This driver without wind aid, I put 10 out of 30 in and left the rest of the bucket; decision made! It goes in the bag. Did I mention straight? IT IS!!
I sent no ball left drawing like I sometimes do, and I certainly left no ball hooking left. I had a couple fades but I kind of like that. This club is sending the ball in the air as far as I used to roll it.
I am sitting down my Nicklaus DP and my Titleist 905S. Cons: I tried to find something I didn't like about this driver so I sounded honest and sincere, but I couldn't find anything. Quality: Construction is good and color scheme is serious/professional. Review Summary: Great Club.

Purchase: Golf Town $350 Pros: This driver has a great look and super curb appeal. Anyone who sees this driver in your bag stops to ask about it. It also makes a fantastic sound off the tee. Cons: This driver stole about 25 yards from my normal drive. The benefits of the draw feature are exaggerated. While this driver did allow for some improvements for off-centre hits the loss of power has been frustrating. Also the paint on the top of the unit seems to easily chip off. Quality: Like others who have reveiwed this driver, the stock grip is poor. It is very thin and provides very little benefit. I would reccomend replacing the grip immediatly. Review Summary: There are three points to be made about this driver.
1. Great curb appeal. If looking great and showing off is what you want this will fit the bill.
2. Looking to correct a slice or hook. Take lessons. This driver will not solve your swing problems.
3. Loss of distance can be the result of higher tradjectory.
Overall a good driver but I will purchase another before the end of the second year. On 2006-07-19, Dustin F. rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 5...(7273)
Details: Regular flex and graphite shaft. 9.5.
Purchase: I first tried my dad's r5 before I bought this one. It didn't take me long to make a decision to get it. So I bought it on ebay for $120 with shipping. Pros: The first thing I loved was the distance I could put on the ball. My first few drives were 250-315 yards. I rarely can drive the ball this far, but with this club I was getting a hold of it.
The second thing I liked about this club was the forgiveness. I tend to slice, and the Tpe D R5 gave it the draw that helped my drives.
The last thing I liked was the price. It was only $120, so it didn't break my wallet.
Cons: I hit great in the driving range, but I am having trouble hitting the fairness and getting consistency in a game. But I'm pretty sure that other people watching me is bad luck, so I wouldn't attribute this to the driver necessarily. Quality: As far as the construction goes; It's a 'Taylor Made' man. Taylor Made makes great products and always will. It's that simple. Review Summary: I have hit many Callaway drivers and other off brand drivers. This is the best driver for the money. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to hit the ball solid from the t-box. On 2006-03-15, Daniel Choi rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 5...(6727)

Purchase: I bought it on ebay and paid $199.99 plus shipping. Pros: I just the Taylor Made r5 Dual D driver 2 days ago, and went to the near driving range 2 times. I used to play with old Callaway driver and I decided to buy one of the best driver which will give more forgiveness than distance.
First day of the practice, I've notice that I had too much fade when I tried to swing fast. And I changed the speed bit slower and focus on swing tempo. Wow.. it flies into the fairway area many times. It's so easy to heat when you control your swing speed and tempo.
I've read Taylor made web description, the Dual D is designed for slower swing spped player than Dual N.
I am pretty much satisfied with the results but distance was about same as my old Callaway. Cons: Hmm.. first it is very hard to take off the head cover and put it back in on. It's too tight.
The impact sound is not that good as Callaway. I was expecting clean nice sound but sounds like big head ping driver. Quality: Nice design and well constructed. It looks very expensive club. Review Summary: I am happy with my drive range result since I focused on steady shots. It is so easy to hit if I control my swing speed and temp. In my case, slower was better. Purchase: I bought this club on ebay from Tin Cup Auctions for $250 brand spanking new in the wrapper. This is the .86 COR non-conforming version. I bought it because i had been fitted for it at Golfsmith to alleviate my slice, but i didn't want to pay the $329 + tax price tag for the standard .83 COR club. Pros: Where do i start, this baby is amazing! Even when i feel like i blocked it out to the right with nasty slice spin, i look up and see a nice, high, long ball that is just slowly fading a few yards right. If i take a nice easy swing and don't try to kill it, omigod! it just seems to keep going and going and going! it feels solid when struck, the club head inspires confidence at address, and the sound is that sweet metallic click that lets everybody know you just killed one! If you struggle with a slice, try this club out, you won't be disappointed. Cons: The headcover, while nice, is very hard to get on and off the club. my foursome gets tired of waiting for me to put it back on, so i just leave it off while i am playing. Quality: It's a TaylorMade, what else do you need to know? Review Summary: A great driver for anybody looking to help their slice problem. Definitely get fitted before you buy one though, it makes all the difference. My scratch golfer buddy initially turned up his nose at this club, saying you should fix your swing, not your club, but even after he hit it a few times he was so impressed he offered to buy it! lol No Sale, i'm keeping this gem in my bag for a long, long time. Purchase: Paid $220 brand new on Ebay (great place to buy new clubs if you can hit them somewhere first). Wanted to help correct a consistent slice without completely overhauling my driver swing. Pros: Reduced the slice measurably and has great forgiveness and consistent contact. This is not a miracle club to cure all slices but if you are willing to work with it you'll really benefit. Cons: No dislikes so far. Make sure you read up on the different shaft types before you buy becuase it cn get confusing. Quality: The quality is outstanding and the look is sleek. Great sound at impact and feel throughout the swing. Review Summary: Type D is highly recommended for the slicers out there. I really really like this driver, more than the 320Ti I was hitting before. On 2005-05-30, Ikkleman rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 5...(5580)
Purchase: I bought this golf club from HAmbrook golf range in bristol in England. I used the launch monitor and custom fitting to find out what shaft and specs would be best for me. I have a swing speed of 85-90
I chose the Type D but with an NVS shaft with tip soft to give it a moe boring trajectory
I paid £190 Pros: This club is amazing, I regularly hit 13/14 fairways a round. I can hit this thing about 270, which for me is a long way as I am only 5 6" and very thin.
It has A nice high trajectory and I can hit it low into the wind.
The draw spec is magnificent as whatever I do I hit a nice soft draw.
But I can fade if needed. Cons: Absolutely nothing! even the headcover is beautiful Quality: Great quality as always from Taylormade and Great quality shaft by Aldila as well. Review Summary: Buy one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On 2005-03-18, Joao Herdade rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 5...(5218)
Purchase: I had a Wilson Deep Red 10.5º driver with a prolite R shaft that I liked a lot. For some time I was looking around for a new driver to improve my consistency. Most misses were to the right, the distance was very good. I tried a lot of diferent drivers and shaft combinations, Cleveland 460, R7, 580XD, Ping G2, but as soon as I tried the R5 I was hooked.Could not go back to the small (305cc) Wilson head! Bought it on a shop in Lisbon for 370€ Pros: First of all it is very easy to hit because of the large head, very smoth with a R shaft and it seems to fly forever. Longer than my previous driver (wilson deep red) and specially it tends to fly straight a lot often or with a slight draw at the ende of the flight. You don't need to swing it hard, in fact a very smooth swing will produce the best results.
Very forgiving. Even when you are quite a bit of center the distance is not very diferent. Cons: nothing.
Also Tried the "S" flex 9.5 model but found it to stiff and harder to hit. Quality: flawless, very good finish, as is ususal with Taylor Made Review Summary: Very easy to hit, forgiving driver. The ball flies very straight or with a slight draw and very high for a very long distance and usually rolss a lot when it lands, producing more than enough distance(220-250m).
Confidence seems to be the major benefit you gain and that helps a lot your game . I started using one less club on the second shot. I would recommend it to anyone. On 2005-03-16, Adam rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 4...(5203)
Purchase: I bought this club from A golf retailer in BC for $250 us. Pros: I am a big fan of Taylormade and this club met my expectations. The sound of the club off tee is amazing, deffinetly an attension getter. Cons: The ball flight is a lot higher than my R580. The factory shaft YS-6 isnt any good if your swing speed is up there. Quality: Taylormade clubs in general are well built. This club doesnt seem any different. Review Summary: Good Head for consistant high drives. Very easy to control. After market shaft is deffinetly needed if you are hitting 300 and up On 2005-03-11, Florida Golfer rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 4...(5168)
Purchase: Purchased on ebay for $240 including shipping. I made the purchase after I got fitted for the club. Pros: The 450cc head is huge but is easily manageable at address and swing. Because it is so light it is easy to achieve a controlled swing tempo. Hitting the sweet spot is nearly automatic. The sound at impact is an attention getter; everyone knows you just hit the sweet spot even before the results are seen. The results are long; to the tune of 25 yards more. And I can consistently call my shots with this driver. If I need a fade I can hit one. If I need a draw, same thing. Even though the ball flight is much farther in the air there is still a fair amount of top spin which allows for some fairway roll. I love the fact that a 400 yard par 4 is now an 8 iron into the green on my second shot. (I hit my 8 about 140 to 145 - this driver consistently gets me 250 to 260 away from the tee!) Cons: The stock grip does not match the quality of the rest of the club. From what my proshop manager told me Taylor Made doesn't even allow buyers to choose a custom grip which, for those like myself with big hands, means an additional trip to the shop before the club can be placed in the bag. The stock stiff shaft isn't for everyone also. I would recommend upgrading to the speeder or Harmon. The large headed drivers take up a great deal more space in a bag than you could imagine; buying one might make it necessary to buy a new larger diameter bag to allow access to all of the other clubs that this monster blocks access to in a regular-sized bag. (You will need 10" diameter) Quality: The quality is typical Taylor Made; the head came from the factory well wrapped and protected and virtually perfect. The club sits well at address and inspires confidence. The laser weld seems are invisible and overall the club is actually very pleasant to look at which once again leads to a relaxed address and a more fluid swing. Review Summary: This driver is better than the R7 and not just in price. The R7 is smaller at only 400cc and that 50cc difference is apparent when you sit them side-by-side. I would recommend that before anyone makes this kind of an investment they should go to their local pro and get measured and fit. Knowing that the club is literally exactly what you need for your game will inspire more self confidence and will lead to better results. While it is difficult to imagine anyone not being able to hit this monster, I would urge that anyone considering this club should at least test the Ping, Cobra, Callaway, and Nike large heads; I think this driver will do well in such a comparison but if you are going to spend $250+ you should make sure that you are getting all of the bang for your buck that you are paying for. Purchase: Paid about $220 on an online auction site Pros: This driver is not only beautiful to look at, but it delivers on its promise of increased performance and forgiveness for those of us who tend to fade or slice the ball off the tee. I don't have too much trouble hitting the driver hard off the tee, but always lost yardage to a slice. I read some reviews of the R5 with the draw bias and took a chance on a great deal on e-Bay. Best golf purchase I've ever made. With minimal tweaking to my swing, I can swing as hard as I can and almost always count on long, straight drives. Cons: There's not really anything I can think of that I dislike about the club. It's gorgeous to look at, and performs just the way it's supposed to. Quality: Quality is top-notch as with most TaylorMade products. Can't find a single flaw in the finish or the workmanship. Review Summary: This is without a doubt one of the best drivers on the market, and when you consider the reasonably affordable price (~$320 at most retailers), it's easily the best buy available right now. Purchase: Pro Golf Discount - $329.99 Pros: Solid at address. Not closed, but square. Very clean top line. Well balanced shaft is incredible. Neutral weighting allows working of the ball. Nice boring trajectory and LONG. Great club for the skilled player. Cons: As with other modern drivers, a bit costly, but much cheaper than the R7. Quality: Well built, solid golf club. No corners cut here. Review Summary: Awesome driver. TaylorMade is leaving the other club companies in the dust right now with their line of metalwoods. And getting the Fujikura shaft for the same price as the stock shaft is a huge bonus. You've got to look at this club if you're in the market for a new driver! Purchase: Pro Shop $400 Pros: 450 cc head sets up nice. Confidence plus. Good trajectory and distance even on mis-hits. Cons: Nothing yet. Quality: Various custom shafts available. The Graphite Design YS-6 shaft has a softer tip than the stock shaft. Review Summary: Happy with it's performance. Can't wait to hit it when the weather is a bit warmer and see what it's true distance is. On 2004-10-27, Jon rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 5...(4695)
Purchase: Pro Shop - £210 Pros: Very forgiving and produces a decent drive for off centre hits - tried my best to slice shots but couldn't do better than the odd fade.
If you have trouble with accuracy then this is the club for you - distance looks similar to my R320Ti taylor made Cons: nothing yet Quality: looks solid and quality feel Review Summary: On 2004-09-16, Russell Schaeffer rated this TaylorMade R5 Dual a 5...(4395)
Purchase: I bought this club after about 40 min. of using it. I bought it at Belmont’s Driving Range in my town. The reason why I bought it is because it’s perfect. I have been looking for a driver for over two years using random drivers that I borrowed form my home course. I tried the new Titliest, R500, Cobra, Mizuno, Cleveland Launcher, ERC Fusion and the Adams Redline... none of them were for me. I developed a huge slice while looking for drivers so not only did I have to find a driver that I like, but one that would help alleviate my slice... thus the R5 Dual D. Pros: I don’t like anything about this unit, I love it. It is perfect in everyway. The type D of the R5 Dual is for people that would like some more distance, right to left flight and to help alleviate a slice. It does all of that and more. I grabbed this club about 9:15 in the morning after only warming up with a 9 iron for a few minutes; I take my first swing with it, hit it off the toe, its out 240 middle of the driving range and rolls for another 10-15+ yards. My jaw dropped and I couldn’t believe it. It its great off miss hits and amazing with perfect hits (like a lot of drivers...) the sound is so sweet and when you hit a good shot you can feel it from your wrists though hands and up to your shoulders. When I did come outside the ball and the ball did start to slice I could see it slow down in mid air and actually fall quicker so it really helped end my slice. It provided so much confidence and I think out of 10 shots 8 of them were perfect. I got a stiff shaft witha 9.5 head. For me, its perfect, maybe not for everyone.I love this club!
Cons: the only thing i dont like about this unit is that it didnt come out sooner. Quality: The construction and quality of this club is out of this world, auper clean, super sturdy, super... everything! TaylorMade make the #1 driver! Review Summary: Bottom Line: TRY THIS CLUB! i loved it, therr are two types, N and D try them both. Its cheaper them almost every driver out there ($330.)
I feel like this club was made just for me, it provideds me with so much confidence plus it gives me all the shots i need.
