Details: 9.5 Degree Loft, standard Fujikura Re-Ax Shaft, Stiff Flex. Japanese Spec Shaft, weight at 58 Grams.

Purchase: I bought at a local golf show in a mall near my area. Cost was around US$ 250 at the time. I considered this unit since it was at the maximum head size at 460cc (vs the other Taylormade R7 425). Another part of the consideration is that the fact that I already have a Taylormade Rescue Dual #3 at that time. At the moment of purchase I was not using my driver (Callaway ERC II 10.5 degrees) because of reliability issues. I was never able to draw or straighten out my drives with that club.
Pros: MWT feature is a nice one. Change the weights if you are hitting a draw/hook, change it again if you are fading it. It's like having two drivers at the same time. The big head with the glossy black top is very nice to look at during address. Having a big face is also a big plus, since the sweetspot is way, way bigger. Although I may not yet able to perfectly understand it, but I think that the stiff shaft helped straighten out my ball flight.
Cons: Why did the extra weights have to be bought separately from the club? Taylormade should have just included at least two extra pieces, like a 2- and 14-gram. Headcover is a pain to take off especially when it was still new.
Quality: Top-notch quality. I know that Taylormade makes great drivers, and this is no different. Shaft is a great one too. Grip seems very cheap though.

Review Summary: This is a very good buy for high handicappers. Don't live in denial, accept that you are a high handicapper and buy a club that suits you.

Details: Stock Fujikura RE*AX 60 shaft regular flex, and stock grip. Standard weights (14 gram and 2 gram) installed. Torque wrench. 460cc titanium face head, black crown.

Purchase: Purchased the TaylorMade R7 460 driver from Costco for $250 +tax back in 2006. They were on sale by the store manager who wanted to clear them out. Other Costco's were selling them for $350 and wouldn't match the other Costco's price. So I had a really great deal.
Pros: I really like the feel of the Fujikura RE*AX shaft, regular flex. The club is easy to swing. I have the weights configured in the draw bias (14 gram weight at the heel and the 2 gram at the toe). It helped reduce my fade to a straight and boring ball flight. That's all I needed to keep out of the trees and the parallel fairways. Contacting the ball on impact has a great feedback. Mishits are forgiving on the feedback, and ball. But it won't cure all your bad swings. Mishits are still playable. Ball flies up off the tee.
Cons: There's really nothing I don't like about this driver. Maybe the price when it first was introduced into the market was a bit steep, but hey, wait a year and get it at Costco. The center weight is not interchangable. But then again, there are newer R7's that fixes that.
Quality: Quality and craftsmanship of this driver is superb. I was inspecting for any type of flaws, such as chipped paint or scratches, but couldn't find any. Very well-made product.

Review Summary: Great driver from TaylorMade, as with all their products. I wouldn't recommend this driver for beginners like myself until you've had some practice with irons and woods. Then get this driver once you're comfortable with the long fairway woods.

Details: Re-Ax Stiff Shaft, 9.5 deg

Purchase: Paid around US$270 at a local golf convention. Came with a dozen free balls.
Pros: Looks very nice at address. 460cc head means it was designed to be at the limit. MWT system is nice because it was matched with the Rescue Dual that I purchased 5 months earlier. It served as a replacement for my ERC II driver, which really gave me a headache and made me shy about using drivers. Went to the driving range and hit some balls then played with it 2 days after. I hit all of the fairways with this driver. At one par 5 I drove it around 280+ yards, which blew my mind!
Cons: Nothing!!!
Quality: Very high quality, as always with TaylorMade drivers. I'm never buying anything from Callaway anymore.

Review Summary: Basically, this is my first time to buy a new driver (my old one came free with the set I bought) and I very very happy with this club. Money well spent.

Details: 9.5 degree, 46 3/4 Graphite Design shaft.

Purchase: I purchased this when it came out when it was $399, but with a discount at my golf store I was employed at.
Pros: This driver looks pretty good at address. It's nice and meaty with a large sweet spot. I like the weight ports and color. Traditional look.
Cons: I didn't like the factory installed Re*Ax shaft or grip.
Quality: So far no problems. Good TaylorMade quality and sturdy construction.

Review Summary: My swing still needed some help and I still sliced some balls to the right so I thought I'd try an adjustable weighted driver. I expected a little more distance from this puppy but it didn't give me much more than my Ping G2. One thing I've learned about drivers is; (if the heads are comparable or close), they are only as good as the shafts connected to them. My old golf tech buddy always said 'a good shaft will make a good driver a great diver'. He was right. I had really hoped getting a movable weight head would solve my slice so I got this twin-ported beast. Well, as most of you might know by now with the same problem, it can only help you about 25%. The rest is really in some lessons and a good club fitting. Being that I worked in a golf store and had access to two simulators, I averaged about 20 decent hits, then averaged my swing speed, launch angle, distance...etc. After that I demo'd all the top drivers. The R7 460 looked awesome, felt good, was well liked by two of my store buddies who bought it, and sounded ok. It's a little tinggy but sounds great when you really hit one solid. I had Taylor made lenghten the shaft 1.75inches and had a 10.5 and a stiff flex. Well, this was balooning my drives quite often over 15 degrees, way too high with no roll. But mainly, I was spraying this thing to the right way too often! What you say? Yep, I had the 14/2 in the right combo, heal heavy, and I was still spraying. Well, after doing some extensive internet research I found out others were having the same problem and I needed to do some tweaking, not giving up on this puppy yet. What I really found out was that this driver head is heavy and the RE*AX (promoted) medium flex tip is really a lot closer to a soft tip. Well, that is the WRONG combination for a heavy headed driver, and for someone like me with an above average swing speed. I decided to go with the Graphite Design 7.1 X flex. Well TaylorMade (I think mainly the golf store liason), sent me the right length but a Stiff flex, plus they kept my extra 14 gram weight. I tried it and it was pretty darn good, a much better shaft. After spending a lot of money though, I wanted it right so I called Taylor Made again. I ALMOST NEVER say this about a manufacturer, but Taylor Made was absolutely wonderful to me. I mean, I really can't say enough about the tech who helped me and his follow up. I had this driver for months and they still exchanged it for me, twice! This time they sent it directly to my house, the right length, brand new X flex shaft, and I also switched to a 9.5 degree to help lower my trajectory even a little more. Well, this is really about the best combination I think I can find. My shots seldom shank badly right, my distance is better, and my trajectory is much lower. With the X-Flex shaft, believe it or not, adding some weight to the head really helped me get a little whip out of the shaft and helped me square the face better. But you've got to be strong to maximize it. I'm a strong weight lifter and ex-collegiate weight man in Track and Field so I have the tools. I like the 14/10 combo best so far. TaylorMade made was also nice enough to send me some free weights to work out my aim and to apologize for taking my extra 14. A fine company indeed. The best I've EVER dealt with, for ANYTHING. America's not dead yet boys! They really kept a customer for a long time to come. I will probably only buy from them for any clubs for a long time. This company remembered one thing that most don't give a darn for anymore, ' a good product with good customer service is a winning combination and will be very successful for a long time'. There's a reason why this is the number one driver company in the Pro's.

Details: pretty much stock reax x stiff 1in longer and after market Winn grip.

Purchase: paid roughly 180 new on ebay, got it cause i was playing the R7 425 Tp which i did like but figured why not try the 460, i mean bigger is better right?
Pros: like everything took me about a week of playing everyday to get where i trusted it off every tee box and knew it would deliver.
Cons: No real dislikes, great club shorter than some i have played but still about 295-310 yds every once in awhile i'll knock one out bout 350 but it makes up for it because it is very accurate.
Quality: Great its Taylor Made

Review Summary: good club not for everyone i lost yardage however you have to go with the pros and cons- i lost bout 20-30 yards on my drives but im in the short stuff every time.

On 2006-07-06, Nic rated this TaylorMade R7 460 a 4...(7232)

Details: Fujikura shaft Regular flex 105 degree loft

Purchase: Weakness was in my drive; reasonable distance but not so handsome. The ERCII is not an easy club to use. I decided to give the R7 460 a try after reading the rave reviews. USD350
Pros: Very forgiving and easy to hit. Large sweet spot. Off center shot still goes straight.
Cons: Compared to my old Callaway ERCII, I am lose about 10 metres. The ERCII gave me a carry of 220-230 meters. The R7 460 consistently only gave me 210-215 metres.
Quality: Construction is of the highest standard and looks good.

Review Summary: If you are having problems hitting the sweet spot or keeping the ball in the fairway then this is a driver that you should seriously consider. Don't expect this driver to magically give you extra distance if you are already hitting the sweet spot of your current driver.

Details: 10.5 degree loft, New Decade Grip w/single wrap

Purchase: Started out with a Taylor Made R5 Dual-D model with a Grafalloy Pro-lite shaft and was reasonably straight. I wasn't a long hitter with 225 yards out on my best day. Switched to a Titleist 905R in hopes that it would gain a few yards, but was extremely difficult to hit and had a 'heavy' feel. Switched again to the new R7 460 and smoothed out the swing a bit. Shazaam! The R5 is lighter, smoother and longer than anything I've hit. Immediately began hitting straighter with nothing less than 250 out.
Pros: The R7 gives one the confidence to hit it well without trying to 'kill' the ball. It just feels 'smooth' when swinging.
Cons: Nothing
Quality: As with all Taylor Made products, first rate.

Review Summary: Great looking, smooth driver. Immediately began switching out a mixed bag of utilities and fairways for Taylor Made product.
