On 2004-04-15, Kevin Butts rated this TaylorMade RAC CGB a 4...(3377)

Purchase: My wife purchased them for me at Golfsmith for $1000.00
Pros: The looks and ease of use for these irons. The speed at which the ball comes off the face of this club! the accuracy of the clubs.
Cons: N/A
Quality: Had an issue with the chrome peeling off the steel shaft near the head of the club after only 2 or three shots.

Review Summary: I must start by apologizing to those of you who may have experienced technical difficulties with satellite television yesterday....I think I must have hit a couple of orbiting satellites while at the range trying out my new TaylorMade RAC CGBs! Man, this club is unbelieveable! The ball jumps of the face so quickly that one would be led to think that some one placed an explosive charge in the club that goes off on impact! Even on miss hits the ball goes straight down the line with these clubs...very forgiving indeed. However, I will have to take them back to Golfsmith for them to re-order them from TaylorMade with the specifications that I originally requested. The extra inch in length was fine, but the grip wasn't built up large enough for my hands; my fingers are a little sore from gripping too tightly. In addition, I noticed that I was hitting off the toe consistently. That was due to Golfsmith not having TM adjust the lie as I requested. Also, the 6 iron chrome began to peel away from the steel shaft near the head after just two shots! I think that was due to bubbling durning the chroming process when the shafts were made. Other than the few setbacks mentioned above, these really are great clubs. I don't think that they are for everyone though. They do have a high price point, and some may not like the large heads on the irons. I suggest that the you try them out on your own during a demo day or ask your local shop for demo clubs to try them for yourselves then form your own opinions.
