Details: Steel shaft, Regular flex
Purchase: Paid $349 at Dick's Sporting Goods. Pros: The lightweight steel shafts are all .250 longer than standard on the HTs and the OS models, and this seems to fit the clubs perfectly. Very nice feel when swinging. Clubs can still dig in if you're not stable at setup, but generally they seem to sweep more without fatties. The long irons are AWESOME, and the mids and shorts don't balloon as one might expect. Just a nice high trajectory that will sit right down on the fastest of greens.
Clubs are noticeably longer, too, despite the high trajectory. Longer than my Top Flite XLs or even my beloved Tommy Armour 855s. Long and straight. I can still, however, bend the 5, 4, and 3 irons left or right. Getting a draw out of them is pretty easy, and a fade is possible but you have to work a little for it to not let it get away from you.
I compared these to the other wide-sole irons that are out now: Cleveland Launcher, Cobra 3400, Big Bertha 2006, etc. and the TaylorMades pretty much smoked all of them. The cartridges in the heads absorb the sting of bad mis-hits, as well, much like a graphite shaft. That the rac HTs can be found cheaply now that the new OS2 is out was just icing on the cake.
Cons: The grips are not very good. They are tacky if kept scrubbed, but not even close to new Velvet tour wraps, Avaon Chamis, or the old TM bubble grips (the best!). I'll be replacing these pretty quickly. Quality: Excellent build quality all around. The shafts are most likely True Temper Dynalite steel R-300s and are perfect for me. Very clean hosel (no glue) and straight grips. Review Summary: Wonderful feel, long, straight, but still workable, amazingly enough ... they're perfect for mid and low handicappers.

Purchase: I bought them at Golftown in Whitby Ontario. I was in the market for some new irons and these felt the best out of all the irons I tried. Pros: they have great solid feel to them. nice high trajectory if you have trouble getting the ball up. very forgiving, making those toe or heel shots quite a bit less eractic while still providing the distance you would regularly loose. Cons: nothing. i am very satisfied with them. Quality: Review Summary: On 2004-10-25, N.W. Pacilio rated this TaylorMade RAC HT a 5...(4677)
Purchase: I purchased these from a friend. He is the type of golfer with too much money and too little focus. He buys clubs about monthly and sells them when he sees the next "greatest thing". I bought them after researching the manufacturers website, where they said they were designed for beginners. I paid $400.00 for a 3-PW. The set retails for about $599.00 brand new. Pros: The first thing I immediately noticed about these clubs was their forgiveness. They were solid on mis-hits, not having much of a variance from a solid hit. I found these getting more height without sacrificing distance. They land very soft, even with the long irons. The weight in the bottom of the club makes it very easy to get a solid hit on the ball. Cons: The forgiveness has a bit of a drawback. THe mis-hits are not too bad, but it also sacrifices some of the feel. When you hit a perfect shot you just dont get that "feeling" in your hands. The clubs are a little harder than normal to shape your shots, but hitting straight has never been a bad thing. The distance on these clubs is spot on, its tough to stretch a club a little longer than you normally do. These clothes are designed to take full advantage of a smooth swing. Quality: The HT's are extremely durable. They seem to be made of very good material. They are the quality you would expect from a top tier company like Taylor Made. They play exactly as advertised by the company. Review Summary: Bottom line is, I would recommend these clubs to any person with a +5 handicap or above. The HT's are the club beginners dream about, making it much easier and much less frustrating to learn the game. The forgiveness and flexibility allows you to focus on learning the game rather than becoming frustrated at bad shots. An excellent pickup especially at the price. Purchase: Bought the RAC HT brand new off ebay for $395 + shipping.
Was sold on the HT's after talking to a pro and hitting them in a simulator. Tried out the Callaway X-16s and Big Berthas as well.. Pros: While a little apprehensive about the HT tag fearing that my shots would balloon, all fears were dashed just after hitting the irons. Right though the set, good distance and the ball comes in high and soft, rather than long and fast like my older cavity backs.
The wide sole glides through the turf and rough alike, with little twisting. Cons: Dont like the rubber grips too much. Going to try them out a few more rounds, probably will go with chord grips soon. Quality: Great construction, the clubs look great. Review Summary: Definately a must try. Ignore the HT tag.
If you have trouble getting the ball in the air, these are clubs for you. On 2004-01-04, Ed Zamarron rated this TaylorMade RAC HT a 5...(2632)
Purchase: I puchased these irons, 3 through PW in steel reg flex, on ebay for $425 brand spanking new, never been hit. Pros: At set up the lines of the club head gives the appearance of of a traditional iron. They have clean lines with a neat look and inspire confidence. Upon closer inspection, these irons scream technology. the soles are wider than traditional clubs to lower the center of gravity. I took these clubs to an indoor golf dome range where wind and the elements would not be a factor. I took my original set of Callaway Big Berthas '96/'97 model to compare them. What a complete difference!! The taylormades were so much more accurate than my Callaways and the felt great. For every Taylormade iron aimed at the same target I was %100 accurate and that is no exaggeration. With five shots from each iron I would hit maybe two to three shots between the lines about 150 yards out and five out of five with the Rac ht's. I am 35 have been golfing for twenty years and I have never been that accurate with my irons. Cons: None to speak of. Quality: These clubs are marketed for game improvement game improvement. I am a 12 handicap and before the clubs arrived at my home I was beginning to worry that I had made the wrong purchase. I was worried because I was beginning to think that I was going in the wrong direction. I thought, maybe I should be looking into a set of blades. Upon arrival, I was extremely pleased with the modern look of the clubs, which may turn off some traditionalists. However, I consider these clubs to look extremely sharp, and I have recieved many comliments at tne range. Review Summary: These look as good as they perform and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Pay no attention to the "game improvement" label. These clubs are very forgiving yet I could easily work the ball in spite of the lowered center of gravity. I was never able to hit a draw on command as I can with these. I also took them to a tough course in the area and shot an 80 under some very tough conditions with a lot of rain and wind. In spite of the low center of gravity, my shots never ballooned and stayed on line.
