On 2005-07-12, pmo rated this TaylorMade Rescue Mid 16* (Graphite) and 19* (Microtaper) a 4...(5845)

Purchase: The Pro Shop Johannesburg $220 (16* graphite) The Golfers Club Johannesburg $ 150 (19* steel)
Pros: Both have clean, square faces that are easy to line up. The 19* with steel plays very easily and I find it replaces both the 5 and 7 woods (carry 200 yds down to 180 yds)by simply varying the length of swing from a full swing to say a 3/4 swing. The 16* replaces the 3 wood (carry 220 yds). If addressed and played like an iron i.e. hit slightly down on the ball, they are both very easy to hit, very straight and build confidence.
Cons: No dislikes regarding steel shaft. The graphite feels "head heavy" and becasue of the low kick point in the stock stiff shaft my bad shot is a hook. This is also because of the built in draw bias. I would not buy the graphite again unless I was a chronic slicer in which case it would probably assist.
Quality: Both are very well made as is the case with all TM clubs. The 16* is a year old and still looks new.

Review Summary: I think these clubs are perfect for the older golfer or for those who have difficulty with longer irons. I have added an extra wedge to my bag and find that I have all distances covered from 225 yards in. Note that these clubs are about 10 yards longer than the irons they are numbered to replace in calm conditions.
