On 2003-09-17, Stuart rated this TaylorMade Rescue Mid 19 degree a 4...(2320)

Purchase: Purchased the club from www.directgolf.co.uk. Paid £109. Reason for purchase was as a 3 iron replacement.
Pros: The club looks very nice and, as with all TaylorMade products the quality is good. I opted for the stiff graphite shaft (S90) as it had a nice light feel but was not too swishy! The club flies the ball high, and gives a satisfying distance compared to a 3 iron. Shots fly nice and straight, and it can be used from the fairway, light rough or off the tee.
Cons: I don't want to sound too critical, because this is a fantastic club...but please don't buy this club if you are terrible with your long irons and you think this will fix all your problems. You still need to have a good solid swing to achieve the results that the club was designed for. The club was designed to provide a higher flight, with a softer landing. Enabling you to hit and hold greens from a long iron distance. (This is the reason why so many Pro's are using them). If you duck hook your long irons, you will duck hook with this club, and the same applies if you slice. (However, apparently there is a slight draw bias on the club). After several sessions on the practice range, I began to hit this club well. (My problem was swinging too fast, a good tip for all high handicappers to bear in mind). But I still find it very difficult to shape the ball. It just seems to fly straight, which isn’t a bad thing I suppose. The club also doesn’t perform too well from the rough. I know it is called a rescue club, but the club head turns too easily for my liking if hitting out of slightly long grass.
Quality: The contriction of the club is what you would expect from TaylorMade. Very good.

Review Summary: All in all a very good club that will certainly bring a smile to many golfers faces. But don't be fooled into thinking it will solve your long iron nightmares.
