On 2006-03-08, Andy Yeomans rated this TaylorMade Rescue Mid 2, 4 and 5 irons a 5...(6708)

Details: Regular Graphite Shafts. 2, 4 and 5 iron lofts

Purchase: I bought the Rescue Mid 2 iron (16 degree)initially as a replacement for a Ping Zing 2 iron that was in the bag largely for show and to be used for punch shots out from under trees! I bought the club from a trader on ebay in summer 2005 and paid £90 ($150) for it. The club quickly became a favourite and so I added the Rescue Mid 4 and Rescue Mid 5 to the set, replacing the equivelant irons. Each of these also cost about £90 - one bought off ebay and one from my local Europro Golf Centre.
Pros: The Rescue Mid 'irons' are exceptionally easy to hit, accurate, consistent and long, from most lies, inc the rough. The 2 iron is no longer for show and has replaced my 3 wood in the bag. All 3 clubs can be hit with a draw but I can also work the ball the other way at will. I love them.
Cons: There is nothing to dislike, although greenside chips with the Rescue 5 are more difficult than I imagined due to the 'spring' of the shaft.
Quality: Excellent

Review Summary: These clubs have improved my long game markedly, and I thought that I had a pretty reasonable long game already - they are so easy to hit from both the fairway and the rough. I find myself opting to hit an 'easy' Rescue 5 rather than a normal 6 iron! The bottom line is that these are vey forgiving clubs and, whilst you may not want to carry 2 or 3 of them as I do then I am convinced that everyone would benefit from having a Rescue Mid hybrid iron in their bag in place of a 3 iron or 3/5 wood.
