On 2006-09-24, rekatksir rated this Technasonic Check-Go Pro a 4...(7437)

Details: New model, not the original Check-Go

Purchase: Golfsmith, $34.95
Pros: Easy to use, worked well with quality golf balls; not so well with cheap balls. Better balls tended to spin up smoothly and were easy and consistent to mark. Cheap balls were difficult to get a consistent line.
Cons: Be careful that you have fully charged batteries; if not, the unit does not get up to full speed and you will get inconsistent results. The earlier review that had lines going all over the ball was likely due to a) cheap balls, or b) low batteries, or c) the earlier version of the unit (before the pro version) may not have worked as well.
Quality: Acceptable, made of plastic; marking pen worked ok but required patience and a steady hand to get good results.

Review Summary: The bottom line is on the course. I had never used a marked ball before for my tee shot or for putting-what a difference, especially putting!! The line forces you to properly line up your feet and swing the putter on the line on the ball. You get immediate feedback about whether you made a good stroke as you watch the line on the ball. On a practice green, I putted at a tee using the line as a guide and then turned the same balls perpendicular to the line. The putts with the line sideways were obviously more 'wobbly' than when using the line. Since this unit uses centrifugal force to locate the line on the ball where the weight is distributed, it makes sense that it would roll more smoothly on that line. On the course, I am finding my putts to be much more consistently in or close to the hole.
