Details: Just new balls off the shelf.

Purchase: The ones used for this review were bought at my local golf course. I paid $38.00 for them. I useally order them from Golfballs.com or get practice balls from Golfsmith for about half the price.
Pros: I have been playing PROV1X for years and have had only one complaint. That is they don't last long. The outer surface is scratched or marred easily. I often get pieces of the ball pealed off on my irons. So a ball is done after one round. The new ones to me hold up better. They still have the soft feel and roll nice on the green but after playing a round the ball was still in good shape.
Cons: The price I think they could lower the price some. Other than that I love these balls. They are designed for a golfer with a swing speed over 90 mph I have a 110 mph swing but sometimes use a slower swing and do not see any difference in performance.
Quality: The new model is still a three piece ball but they have changed the the sixe of the core and made it larger to get a softer feel and more distance. They are using a higer performance Urethane Elastomer to make the cover stronger on all shots and that is the thing I noticed most. They stuck with the 392 dimple design and I believe that is suposed to reduce spin along with the larger core.

Review Summary: If you have played the PROV1X before you know it is a great ball. They have made some changes and made it better. So I will continue to use them.

Details: newest version on this ball, new for 2009

Purchase: I got them to ocmpare them to last years model of this ball
Pros: Excellent golf ball. The 2009 version is supposed to have improved durability, with the same distance and feel as the 2008 balls. I think it might be a little more scuff resistent, but it's hard to say. The ball feels and plays like the older ProV1X, and that's about all you can ask out of a golf ball.
Cons: Nothnig not to like, other than the price, but that's nothing new for Tour quality balls.
Quality: Quality seems to be excellent, about the same as last years model of this ball. No complaints from me.

Review Summary: If you liked last years model of the ProV1X. I see no reason you wouldn't like the new 2009 model just as much. I think you'd have to be a tour pro to be able to tell any real difference. I sure can't tell a differece. Excellent ball for the really good golfer. If you lose a lot of golf balls, it's not for you at the price.
