On 2009-09-06, J Chen rated this Titleist 907 D1 a 4...(8535)

Details: 9.5 degrees, Stiff flex with Mitsubishi Diamana Blue Board 63g shaft, 3.6 torque, mid/high flexpoint; NOT the Mitsubishi stock shaft for Titleist that is 4.4 torque and mid flexpoint.

Purchase: I found a great deal for the 907D1 on ebay for 100 and decided to try it out.
Pros: The club head on impact feels solid with relatively mild sound. It is forgiving in that off center hits don't disperse much and still has adequate distance. It's a club ideally designed for a mid to high handicapper that's striving more accuracy and a bit of distance. But if you are a mid-low handicapper that has decent club head speed, the lightness of this club will not deliver your energy transfer for more distance.
Cons: Due to stretching the club head size to regulation max of 5in X 5in, the design has placed all the weighting in the perimeter. What this means is the club head feels extremely light. That maybe good if you desire a light club, but bad if you desire to deliver more inertia and thus power into your drives. Be sure you pair this club with the correct shaft, because that will make all the difference with this driver.
Quality: My initial impression was that this driver is gorgeously constructed, black satin head, gleaming silver shaft and innovative head design. The overall driver was featherweight light.

Review Summary: This club is ideal for the mid-high handicapper with swing speeds of 90-100mphs striving for accuracy, forgivness, and to add a bit of distance. Not for an advance player that desires workability and to increase distance.

On 2009-03-20, DON rated this Titleist 907 D1 a 5...(8304)

Details: 10.5* loft head, with Stiff flex V2 shaft Length is 45 inches Swing weigh is D2

Purchase: I got this driver from Chief to do a re-shaft. I believe Chief paid around $100 for it as a Demo model.
Pros: The Titleiest 907 D1 is a 460CC head driver. The club face is quite larger, especially heel to toe wise. Face height is about average, or slightly less. Nice and quiet at impact, which a lot of golfers will like.
Cons: The D1 have a odd shape with the back of the head coming to a point, rather than being round. Kind of reminds my of Home Plate in baseball. Not fond of bore-thru head designs, as it makes pulling the shaft much harder and also more work to install the new shaft.
Quality: Quality is very good. About what you would expect from one of the top OEM drivers.

Review Summary: If you like a driver without the loud noise of some of the new models, this would be a good place to look for your next driver. With the right shaft, I see no reason for the 907 D1 not to make you happy. Nothing not to like once you get used to the shape of the head.
