Purchase: I got serious about golf during the 'Tiger era' when everyone wanted to be Tiger Woods. I used to see Tiger using this driver in every tournament. Every picture of him on the cover of a golf magazine had him holding this club in his classic follow-through. Those were the days! I wanted one badly, but couldn't afford one at $400.00 - $450.00. I don't remember exactly how much they cost back then, but they were in that price range.
Fast forward to 2008. Ive had many sets of golf clubs since then, and many opportunities to purchase this driver. For whatever reason, I didnt. Only until these past 2 years have I made it a point to purchase used golf clubs if I ever need golf clubs. Why pay the price of new set when theyre going to become used anyway? So if I need clubs, I purchase used, not abused golf clubs.
One day browsing the local pro shop for some used 2006-2007 Titleist drivers, I came across a 975D in used, not abused condition with a Harrison shaft on it. Golf technology has come a long way since 1999 with out 450 + CC drivers. This thing is tiny compared to them but I decided to take it over to the simulator and try it out.
I actually did better with this driver than the 450+ CC drivers on the market. I prefer to tee the ball low to the ground anyway, and knowing I could do that with this driver without fearing I would hit it fat was a big plus. The head is big enough to give me confidence off the tee that Ill hit it far, but not so big I think Ill catch the wind on the downswing like I do with some of these big drivers.
$40.00 later a beautiful Titleist 975D was added to my bag. My dream driver! The club I so badly wanted back in the day was finally mine. I felt like the 50 year-old businessman who purchased a classic Ferrari from the 1960s.
Im not going to take this one out of my bag ever. It has everything I want in a driver The Titleist brand, which I am exclusive to, the low profile so that I can tee it lower, a head made out of Titanium (I couldnt afford Titanium back in 1999, I used steel!!!) and the Harrison shaft. And dont forget the nostalgic feeling I get every time I see it and think back to the Tiger era when I wanted to be the next Tiger Woods!
I can now afford to buy any driver on the market I see. The Titleist 975D will stay in my bag the rest of my life. Pros: Everything! The low profile. The Titleist brand. The way it sets up to the ball. The confidence I get. The nostalgic feeling. Cons: N/A Quality: Excellent! Review Summary: There is nothing more to say. If you can get your hands on one of these drivers, please do. They're only $40.00 now even on ebay for the ones in great shape. If you try hard enough, you'll find one that hasn't been abused through the years and only has minor scratches on it that you're going to get anyway from using it.

Purchase: I paid 50 dollars with shipping on Ebay. Pros: I made the mistake of having this club cut down to 43.5 inches for more control. The feel of this club is just as the other 2 reviewers stated. I lost distance with the shorter length but the driver is consistent and has a fanatastic feel. I love the bend point of the shaft and the ball pops off of the face with a muted sound. I am looking to move up to a 460CC bomber and would like to know the manufacturer of the stock shaft. I would recommend the 975D to anyone looking for control off of the tee. The club is straight and forgiving if you stay at 80-90% of your swing. It is light and feels real good in your hands. The head is only 260CC but looks a little bigger. Cons: There is really nothing to dislike about this club. It is older technology that still works. The quality is 2nd to none. you can pick one up on Ebay for dirt. It is nice to have when your longer driver goes astray. Quality: Top notch Titleist quality. Review Summary: As I mentioned earlier, pick up one on ebay used real cheap as a backup. Even the 975J etc. are woth it. On 2005-02-22, Craig Lamb rated this Titleist 975D a 5...(5073)
Purchase: I bought this drvier second hand from my Pro about 4 years ago. Think I paid £150 for it. At the time it was a good price because it was Titleist's most recent driver and was in good condition. Pros: Ah well.....what can you say about this golden oldie?! Before this driver was introduced Titanium divers used to hit the ball high and loopy ball flight (remember the Taylor Made Bubble Titanium and the Callaway GBB). So when I first hit this I was very suprised at the way the ball came of the clubface and the ball flight in general. It was a very low penetrating ball flight that was unheard of with Titanium drivers. It didnt make the usual ping that everyone was so used to with Titanium but a very pleasant "THUD"! Also it was'nt big and ugly like some big headed drivers at the time. It had a gorgoues clubhead that millions of players fell in love with across the world. Cons: By todays standards it isnt a great driver. Not up to date with todays technology! Quality: Titanium 8.5 degree clubhead. EI-70 S-flex shaft. Lampkin grip. Review Summary: It doesnt have any of this COR crap or carbon/titanium mixes etc. What this driver is is a gorgeous looking club that gives a brilliant penetrating ball-flight and a gorgeous feel and sound when struck properly. If one day all of these big hitting hot drivers get totally banned this old classic will be put straight back into my bag. On 2003-11-03, Junior rated this Titleist 975D a 5...(2516)
Purchase: I purchased this driver a couple years ago from a local golf shop for about $250 Pros: I've had several drivers over the years and even bought a new 983K this season. The 975D is "one of" or "the best" driver ever. I'm back to using it and the 983K is on the shelf.
I love this club. I hit it long, straight and i do it consistently. Cons: I don't have any dislikes and the only reason I ever go away from it is in search of a little more distance. I always end up back with the 975D. Quality: Well it's made by Titleist so you know it's quality is second to none. They make the best balls, irons and this driver is not the exception...It's perfect. Review Summary: It's a great club. I do admit it might not be for everyone because off-center hits don't go very far but if you are at all consistent you should not have any problems and it's my favorite driver of all time. Purchase: i bought it at golfsmith for only $250 used Pros: this club is excellent. it is probubly the most acurate club. it doestnt get a lot fo nicks and scratches. Cons: the club head is a little to small and the club does not get a lot of yards. Quality: the club is of the highest quality and is built excellent. Review Summary: the titleist 975d is one of the best drivers ever. the only bad thing is th small club head. On 2003-08-15, Gmigliore rated this Titleist 975D a 5...(2085)
Purchase: Tried it liked it. eBay for $80 used. Pros: Weight, Balance, quality Cons: Quality: Great Review Summary: Great Driver! On 2003-06-18, Dr Thibodeau rated this Titleist 975D a 1...(1557)
Purchase: I purchased this driver in the beggining to 2003 for $100 on an online auction. Pros: Nothing. Cons: This driver is awful. The sound at impact is not great. I hit it on center everytime and still make the ball go thirty yards on the ground. Waste of my money. Quality: This club is very durable. Maybe used for five rounds and still look very good. Review Summary: I wasted my one hundred dollars here. Never will I every buy a Titleist driver again. On 2003-04-26, Hancock rated this Titleist 975D a 4...(1206)
Purchase: I got this driver used from a custom club dealer and paid only $125 for it in alost brand new condition. They auction on ebay at around $250-$325 even though they are a year and a half old. Pros: I like the distance I get off the tee with it. It improved my yardage from about 225 to 280 and up depending on my swing speed. Cons: The one thing I didn't like about the driver was how hard it was to learn how to hit straight. Once you learn to hit it straight its a great driver and I can outdrive most adults with it even though I am only 14 years old. Quality: When I bought the driver it had one minor scratch acroos the leading egde of the head and a brand new GrafAlloy shaft and a brand new Golf Pride Whisper grip (which I really love because of the softness). You can hit this driver off the heel or the toe and still get good distance and accuracy, but you know it when you hit the sweetspot. Review Summary: I truly love this driver and plan on keeping it for a while until the next great Titlist comes out. On 2002-11-25, Brad Lyons rated this Titleist 975D a 5...(831)
Purchase: I was using an old Orlimar Trimetal Deep-Faced Driver for quite a while. My game has gotten a lot better, so I decided to move up (quite a bit) in the quality of my clubs. I looked around review sites and found this club. It seems to be very popular with many people, with it's 360+ reviews at golfreview.com, and it has plenty of reviews here also.
I got a good deal, I bought this off eBay in mint condition for $125, and that includes shipping charges. BTW, I'm playing a 10.5* Regular Flex Titleist Ultralite Graphite shaft. Pros: This club DEMANDS you hit it hard. I took one look at it, and just gave my first shot all I had. The ball just screamed off the clubface. It has a low, penetrating trajectory, that I think that all Titleist drivers are supposed to have. When hit right, the ball seems to just keep on going and going.
Another important part of this club is it's workability. You can make small adjustments to your swing, and the ball will easily go the way you want it to (if you know how to work the ball). I hit a 300+ yard draw around a dogleg left one time, while barely using any swing modifications.
Most people think this club is too dull to hit and feels muted. I haven't been playing golf long enough to know what the club should feel like when the ball is hit, so I think it's just fine Cons: The low amount of forgiveness is quite annoying when your game isn't on. I was having a bad day of hitting shots off the toe, and many of my drives were huge slices. When I tried to compensate, I started hitting strong draws. Eventually I worked everything out, and I had a few nice drives.
The regular flex Titleist shaft is also somewhat whippy when swinging the club fast. I am probably going to upgrade to a better shaft, once next season starts, and when I consult my instructor. Quality: This is a very high-quality club. It's a Titleist. I think that should explain it all. Review Summary: This is a wonderful club that can be perfect when you're playing good. Bad days can result with very bad drives with this though. And I also recommend getting a bit stiffer shafts, because of the amount of force required to get a good shot off of this club. Purchase: Bought this club at a local driving range for $399 four years ago. Pros: This is one of the best clubs I have ever hit. It may not be the longest hitting driver on the market but it hits them long enough. The best feature I like about this club is the workability of the ball. I can fade or draw the shot whenever and it has a very nice feel too. Cons: There isn't anything I dislike about this club, it very appealing at address. Quality: This is the most solid driver I have ever hit. Review Summary: This club is for the player who can work the ball off the tee box. I wouldn't recommend this club to anyone with a handicap higher then 10. On 2002-06-17, g-Man rated this Titleist 975D a 4...(191)
Purchase: I bought this Dirver ih a 8.5* loft with a Fugikura vist pro 80 shaft for $150.00 at a local resale shop I have tried all kinds of drivers from Adams to Zevo. For me this is the one. Probaly because of the weight it is a heavy driver that bring my swing under control. Great feel The only driver that comes close is the Mizuno 300s The deciding factor was price. I was always hesitant about Titleist because of the Tiger woods thing but this ones a winner. Pros: Good looks Heavy weight Cons: Not as forgiving as some I am a single digit handicap so it is good for me Quality: Top notch Review Summary: For someone that is in the range of 0 to 15 handicap On 2002-04-12, Steve Schmid rated this Titleist 975D a 4...(54)
Purchase: I acquired through ebay I acquired this because I heard great reviews and have hit it exstensively. I paid $184.00 Pros: Wow there are so many things. Well first off the feel of this driver is amazing when you hit a ball solid it feels just like presimmon. I also like how Titleist offers a number of different shaft options like UST, Grafalloy, True Temper. This club is very workable. I am a 4 handicap so I can fade or draw it on command. The last and final thing is how consistent and straight it is. I can always rely on it when I need to split a fairway on a tight driving hole. Cons: The only thing that I dislike is that it is not as long as some of the newer clubs. Quality: This club is a cast titanium head that is 2 or 3 pieces. All I know is that the crown is bonded to the head. This is a very good looking club at 260 cc's. This is a very high quality product there are now chips or scratches and it is just an all around sound gof club. Review Summary: This is a club for low to mid handicap golfers who want a lower trajectory. Great feel great workability and great looks. Pretty good distance( could be better) On 2002-04-11, Chris Claeys rated this Titleist 975D a 5...(53)
Purchase: Local golf store $119, steel shafted, replacement for current driver Pros: I have gone through a ton of drivers within the last 4 months, taylor, ping, golfsmith, callaway...the thing i noticed as I bought bigger headed drivers was that I hit alot of knuckleballs and I tried to kill it. The 975d has a great looking head, reminds me of my old cleveland rc69 persimmon, nice bulge and roll on the face and looks great at address. This club has a great solid feeling wwhen struck properly, not twingy, distance and ability to shape drives is exceptional. Cons: Nothing Quality: Superior quality, never had a problem Review Summary: I highly recommend this club to anyone that wants a traditionally shaped clubhead with the benefits of titanium On 2002-04-10, Ronan rated this Titleist 975D a 3...(41)
Purchase: Golf Superstore. I bought this driver with a UST Proforce shaft because i am a high ball hitter. 300euro Pros: Nice boring trajectory, good for wind play and on hard dry fairways. There is a lot of roll off this driver if you hit the fairway. Cons: Not got the longest carry of drivers i have tried. Difficult to hit. Quality: Great Review Summary: Good driver but not the most forgiving in the world
