On 2005-07-12, banjo b rated this Titleist 983E 10.5* w/Harrison Striper Ti 80g a 5...(5846)

Purchase: I purchased this club used on eBay for $160 and then had the club re-shafted.
Pros: Bar-none, the 983E is the most amazing driver I have ever hit to date (July 2005). Distance and accuracy are unparalleled for the lower handicap golfer seeking both distance and control. The E has a smaller head and deeper profile than the K for a more boaring trajectory w/o ballooning. I had this club re-shafted w/ a Harrison Striper Ti 80g shaft at 44". Without question, this is the longest and most accurate driver combo I have ever hit. Lo Handicap: Be very cognizant of your driver length with this head, this is not a "forgiving". The length needs to be perfect or you won't hit the sweetspot consistantly. With the right shaft and proper length you will absolutely bomb this club 300+ and keep it in the fairway. I shortened this driver from 45" down to 44" and am hitting it 15+ yards further.
Cons: High Handicap: This will be a difficult driver for you to hit. I highly recommend either the Cobra or the Nike Ignite 460. If you don't hit the sweetspot on the 983E, you will not like the results. This driver is equivalent to playing blades vs. cavity back irons.
Quality: A+ quality of construction A+ on solid feel A+ in distance A+ on ballflight

Review Summary: The neutral bias of the 983E head is the best. I had issues in the past with the 983K and the draw-biased ball flight it produced. You can absolutely crush the 983E and not have to worry about not keeping it in the fairway. Be prepared to absolutely sock the ball, that's the only way I can describe it.
