Purchase: Through ebay!!! $145.00. Pros: The club is what you expect from titleist good quality good performance. Its not as long as the j-vs or its maybe because of the shaft. But what ever it is it's a driver who can hit them not for begginers! Cons: too high of a ball flight for my taste but, besides that it's a very good driver. Quality: Right hand 9.5 loft stiff shaft speeder perfect combination. Review Summary: Very good driver if you can hit it I ahve tried all kinds of driver from T.M. to C.B.B.2

Purchase: Switched from a Nike driver to the 983K and will not go back. There's reason why Titleist is the number one name in golf and I'm now a Titleist man for life. Pros: The 983K is long, accurate, and easy to get accustomed to. I do recommend to get the 983K with the speeder shaft. It will make the most difference. Cons: Nothing. Perfect driver Quality: Beautiful workmanship and finish. Just a great driver. Review Summary: You can't go wronger, only longer! On 2005-03-03, mr_divots rated this Titleist 983K a 5...(5114)
Purchase: Ebay. Brand new $175.00 w/ cover. I had some trouble with a Taylor Made Driver and needed a replacement club. I had always wanted a 983K when they first came out, and I couldn't pass up the price. Pros: Handicap: 7, Swing Speed: 110 Age: 29
The 983K feels so solid at impact. Like a lead sledgehammer. Not hollow sounding or feeling like other brands. The Titleist Speeder stiff shaft is the perfect flex at my SS. Center face contact. This club sets up intuitively. Others may say that it sits closed at address, but it seems square to me. Able to work it both ways, but the heel-biased weighting helps to avoid slices. That is my usual miss, so it works well for me. Cons: Nothing really. I ususally play corded grips on my clubs (Lamkin Crosslines), and the Titleist cord grip is pretty rough, even for me. That can be changed if need be. I use it as a reminder to not grip too tightly. Quality: Seems top notch. Paint is finished nicely and has seemed to be more durable than the other brands I have owned. Club assembly very clean with no epoxy showing, grip is on straight. Good headcover that protects the shaft. Review Summary: I have been very pleased with my 983K. Workable, yet not too punitive on mishits. I was able to put it in my bag immediately with very little practice. Intuitive set up, and good construction quality. If you are looking for a solid club below the $200 range, pick one of these up before they're all gone. With the new Titlesit drivers coming out, these continue to drop in price. They are still in play on the PGA Tour for a reason! (Adam Scott, Zach Johnson, etc.) On 2005-02-11, Ramir rated this Titleist 983K a 4...(5022)
Purchase: I tried out from a demo day at the course I play at and I got it at the demo for $299 custom fitted with a Aldila NV 65 stiff shaft. Pros: Very long compared to my ERC Fusion driver by at least 30 yards. Im driving the ball with the trajectory that I want and Im averaging from 250 - 275 yards. It is also long with mishits, with the mishits I average from 200 - 225 yards. Get custom fitted so that you get the correct shaft flex. It is also a great driver against the wind. Cons: Not as forgiving as the ERC Fusion driver, but it only takes a round or two to get used to. Even on a mishit you can still drive the ball a long way. Quality: I love the custom shaft that Titleist put in my driver, also I like the 365CC head since it is a lot easier to work the ball versus the old 400CC driver I had. Review Summary: Long driver for low to medium handicap drivers. Not recommended for beginners since it is not as forgiving. Get custom fitted for the correct shaft flex and ensure that you demo the club first so that you can get fitted with the correct loft for your individual swing. Purchase: I bought the 983k at Pro Golf for 349.99 CND.
I decided to go with the 983k because of its draw bias (heel weighting technology) since my mis-hits with my old driver are usually to the right. Pros: I hit the ball dead straight with the 983k instead of slicing or pushing the ball. The great feel of the club and the weighting makes it easy to release which practically eliminates slicing unless you make a really really bad swing. (only happened once for me instead of every other time with my crappy old wilson)with a longer downrange flight with the 983k I have gained over 10 yards at least in distance because of the straight ballflight and extra roll. Cons: Absolutely nothing. This club is literally perfect. Quality: Outstanding, beautiful finish, classic look, great looking headcover. Excellent durability (basically comes with any titleist product)
Review Summary: I recomend this driver to slicers, or players who want to try and draw the ball. The shaft really makes a difference in ball flight as well so make sure you get fitted for the correct one. You dont want to spend alot of money on something that will be of no use to you. If you want to fade the ball rather than draw or if you miss to the left dont get the 983k, look towards getting fit for the 983E. On 2005-01-25, MikeR rated this Titleist 983k a 5...(4963)
Purchase: $299 GolfSmith Pros: I've been playing the TaylorMade R5 and the 580xd. The R5 feels like a tin can, the 983k feels like a lead hammer. It's hard to miss this driver right. Straight, left or draw is usual. Just a nice easy swing incorporating a little more right arm than I'm used to with the Taylor Made produces a slight fade but never a high weak slice like with the R5 or xd. This driver is head and shoulders above anything I've ever played. Cons: That I didn't find it sooner. Quality: Solid. This club will be in my bag for a long, long time. Review Summary: BUY IT!! Purchase: Bought at Northcoast Golf Show in Columbus, Ohio. Paid $250 new. Pros: Longest and straightest driver I have ever hit. Smokes my Callaway VFT. Cons: Sounds kind of dead on toe hits. Purchase: I purchased my 983K from a local on course pro-shop. I had been playing a Titleist 975J and decided to take advantage of a demo to compare the two. After the demo it was clear that there was definant improvement with the 983K. I spent some time with the course pro demoing various lofts and shaft options, I purchased the 983K for $399.00 Pros: The 983K is cleary the most forgiving, accurate and considtently long Titleist driver to date. I have been using Titleist drivers since the introduction of the 975D, progressing with each new model introduction. In all cases Titleist has produced a driver with obvious advantages over the previous offering. The 983K offers classic shape and styling with the all the advantages and benefits of the latest modern technology. In typical Titleist fashion the 983K inspires a sense of confidence at address and solid feel at impact. The sweet spot on this driver is more like a sweet zone, even off center hits seem to hold their line and sacrfice little in distance. It's compforting to know that even on the days I am not swinging my best I will find the majority of fairways with the 983K and with acceptable distnace from the tee. Cons: There is not much I could say I don't like about the 983K. My only complaint since owning this driver has been with the stock shaft it came with at time of purchace. After a demo and fitting on the course the Titleist Pro-lite shaft appeared to be the best choice of the four standard offerings. This shaft performed well but I felt that this driver had more to offer than what I was getting with the Titleist Pro-lite shaft. A vistis to a local fittier and a session on the launch monitor confirmed my suspicions. The fitter was able to send my driver back to Titleist and have it re-shafted with Aldila NV65 and have it back in my bag in two weeks. Quality: The construction of the 983K is second to none. The feel and appearance of this driver screams quality. As mentioned above I sent my driver back to Titleist for reshafting and when it arrived it almost appeared as if I had a new driver. I feel that quality and attention to detail is synonymies with the Titleist name. Review Summary: The 983K is the best driver I have played. I am consistently hitting more fairways and with longer distance off the tee. I have demoed and owned other brand drivers, but always seem to gravitate back to Titleist. Since getting My Titleist 983K with the Aldila NV shaft I don't think I could expect more from a driver than what I get from the Titleist 983K, it provides the perfect combination of distance and accuracy off the tee that has helped improve my game. As with any driver ball flight/trajectory will vary to the player's swing characteristics, shaft selection and choice of loft. However I believe if properly fitted the 983K will supply superior results for any level of player. On 2003-11-02, Chris H. rated this Titleist 983K a 5...(2510)
Purchase: Local Pro Shop purchased used for $250.00. After hitting balls on the range with a demo I was able to drive more consistently with this club. This model has the (YS-7SX shaft) 9.5 Degree. Pros: I previously used a Cleveland Launcher 400 8.5 with a Fujikura speeder shaft. The 983K is much easier to control and work the ball, and I have lost no distance with the driver at all. I also like the fact that the head sets up nice and square in comparison to the Cleveland which is slightly closed at address. Cons: I have no dislikes of this driver/shaft combination. Control, setup, and length are very positive. I consistently average drives in the 290-300 range. Quality: Top notch in all categories Review Summary: After using Cleveland, Taylormade (300 series), and various models. I have come to the conclusion I will stay loyal to titleist and the 983k for quite some time. On 2003-10-08, Woodroc rated this Titleist 983K a 5...(2456)
Purchase: Purchased at local golf shop traded in Taylormade 360Ti paid $300.00,9.5 degree Pros: Incredible Driver, squares to the ball nicely, the ball comes off this driver like a bullet, solid feeling & sound on every hit, straight trajectory even when swinging with all I've got, starts low then just rises and keeps going cant say enough best purchase I've made in a while Cons: nothing Quality: Solid well made driver Review Summary: If your serious about your game and don't mind spending the money this is the driver to buy. Purchase: I bought the 983K 8.5 driver at a local Golfsmith International for $271.00. I traded my 580 driver in for $150.00. i bought it to try out a fairly easy club to swing. Pros: I like how the club looks at address. I like the stiff Fujikura shaft that came with the driver. This made the tip of the shaft a lot stiffer, which I like. The head isn't too oversized and it makes a great, responsive sound at impact. The ball goes a long way when you pure it. Most of all, I like how I can shape my shots more so than most drivers in the market. Did I mention far? Cons: If I had to say something, it would probably be the grip. The driver came with a Golf Pride Cord grip which is a little rough for my preference, although it is definitely manageable. Quality: The construction is top by far. The quality is unmatched. Review Summary: This is a great driver for golfers of all levels. You'll definitely gain yards off this driver, because man does it go! This is probably my most explosive driver I have ever hit. Purchase: I purchased the driver at my golf club, Tijeras Golf Club in June 03. I paid $350. I purchased this club because of the positive reviews it was receiving from PGA tour players. Pros: I ordered the 983K with the lightest and stiffest shaft available with 9.5 degrees. I find the light shaft very suitable for creating greater club head speed and the xstiff shaft excellent for keeping the ball from balooning and shaping shots. I found the club to be straighter than my titleist 975J. Cons: I expected more distance from the driver than it delivered. Comparing it to my other driver (975J) with an xstiff airweight shaft I found the distance to be about the same on solid hits, but, when hit off center the 983K was noticeably shorter. Quality: Titleist continues to provide excellent quality. The driver is very pleasing to look at and belies its size. Review Summary: I highly recommend the 983K, it is an excellent performer, and good looking club. However, if you already have a 975 model I see no reason to trade-up, performance with the right shaft and loft is about the same. On 2003-09-08, Leemer rated this Titleist 983K a 5...(2255)
Purchase: Bought from the pro shop at my home golf course - Cdn - $550 however I tried it on a launch monitor Pros: 10.5 degree loft, 4560 reg. shaft which is underrated.Tried to buy this in stiff but no luck. All irons are stiff ping's and my previous driver was the Blk Ping TSI 10 deg in regular.Tried on a launch monitor and it gave me a higher ball flight, due to a lower kick point. The first time I used it, our course was not busy and I compared it to my Ping by hitting the same ball 3 times each. My best Ping came within 6 yards-Longer by 10-20yards and straighter Cons: Bottom of head seems to scratch easy. The price is high for 10-20 yards but the head feel and forgiveness is amazing. I hit about 93-98 miles per hour avg. - would have loved to try this in stiff in this shaft or this shaft at 9.5 degrees - trying to find demos in the 4560 shaft is next to impossible as its a rare club- the other shafts are too stiff.
I also do not like corded grips Quality: Construction is first rate and the feel off the face is great Review Summary: A pricey club but I found it superior in feel and looks to the taylor made 580 which seemed cumbersome. Great head cover
If you are looking for a higher ball flight and carry distance try this shaft combination - I suspect this shaft is made by Graffalloy for titleist- I am a Ping guy for irons but their new drivers don't match this in my opinion Nothing wrong with this one and I will keep it for a long time !!!! Purchase: Bought The driver, at Edwin Watts Golf Store
Paid $399.00. I was looking for a good quality driver, a fairly easy driver to swing. Pros: I purchased the 983K 7.5* driver with the Fujikura shaft wich makes it a little heavier than my old driver. with the added weight I find Myself more in control of My swing. With the 983K I feel the club through the entire back swing wich in turn allows me to swing freely. I found that the 983K is longer than my old calloway by about 20 yards. Cons: I did not like the titleist grip a littlte to rough. so i replaced it with a winn grip Quality: Quality & construction are first rate. Review Summary: If you want to hit'em long and straight I highly recommend this driver. Ihave never had a driver were the ball comes of so Hot!!!!! Purchase: I bought the titleist 983k at a local golf shop for 499$ Pros: This is a very nice driver. It has a large face so it has a larger sweet spot. It hits beautifully and and the best part it increased my driving distance by about thirty yards. Another great thing about this driver is that after the ball lands it rolls for a pretty long time adding more and more yards to your game. For the most part if you have a more consistant swing you will hit the ball well. Cons: There are a few things that i do not like about this driver though. it is hard to keep the ball dead strait because it tends to fade and draw easily when the ball is struck a little outside of the center. The 9.5 has little lofts so it is a bit harder to keep it high in the air it has a middle to low trajectory. One must tee the ball high to get a good tee shot off otherwise the ball will swoop strait down but you should not have a problem if you tee the ball up high. I think that this driver is made for better player shooting in the 70 and 80 because one needs to have a more consistant swing to hit it nicely Quality: This is a durable driver if you do not bang it around. Otherwise the craftsmanship in this driver is great. Review Summary: I think for the most part that this is a great driver the sole reason that it goes strait, for the most part, and gets huge distance off the tee. Purchase: I bought this club, the Titleist 983K 9.5* 4560 R shaft, at Dallas Golf in Richardson, TX, after a launch monitor session in which I tested several drivers. I paid $379 before a credit from the launch monitor session and before a trade-in. Pros: This club, with a shaft fitted to my swing, the Titleist 4560 R flex, increased my swing speed by 7MPH over my previous driver. There was a corresponding increase in ball speed, spin was within the optimal range, carry distance increased by over 12 yards, launch angle decreased from a too high 17* to a more acceptable 15* and overall distance increased by over 20 yards. I like the shallower face compared to other big-headed drivers, and prefer the overall small head (365cc) more so than the 400cc heads that have become more popular. The looks are the typical classy Titleist look and the club seems to set up square. The draw tendency comes from internal weighting that is draw biased. I have a difficult time hitting this right at all unless I put a really bad swing on it or open the clubface to the extreme. The ball flight is a mid trajectory, boring parabola. There is no ballooning here. I have seen where others have felt the ball flight is too high and I beleive this is due to the fact that the ball has not been optimized to the club. Ball flight is impacted by the club, the ball and the swing itself. The proper combination of the three can result in the high but flat trajectory that we all seek, and I have found it with this club. I am now keeping up with the golfing bussines who were outdriving me by 20-30 yards just a couple of weeks ago. Cons: As with most Titleist products, the 983K tends to be at the high end of the price scale, but, to a certain degree, you get what you pay for. The performance I have been getting from this club has been worth the price. Quality: It has a solid feeling 365cc head that sets up square. The dark gray, glossy finish is appealing and not gaudy at all. The silver coloring of the 4560 shaft contrasts nicley with the darker head. The length, heel to toe, is very similar to many of the largedr headed clubs, but it is not as deep faced as most. The standard Titelist full cord grip is still the best grip on any OEM equipment. Review Summary: This club is a performance winner. I never expected to see a such a drastic improvement in performance over my current choice of drivers when I signed up for the launch monitor session. I view most of the claims by manufacturers as just so much "hype", but the launch monitor results and the on-course performance of the Titleist 983K exceeded any expectations. Purchase: I purchased my 983K from Brian Meyer at bhmgolf.com. I've bought a Titleist 970 3 & 5 wood from Brian and have been pleased with his prices, selection and service. I tried all the new drivers and the 983K felt and looked better to me than any of the others.
Brian's price was $349, plus I got a $50 trade-in on my old Titleist 975D, so I paid $300. Pros: The look of the traditional pear-shaped head is beautiful!
The 365cc head is plenty big enough to give me confidence, but not so big as to feel like a tennis racket!? The other plus for me was the new Graffaloy shaft made for Titleist. I've got the same shaft in my 3 & 5 woods and I like the consistent feel of the shaft throughout my woods. It's stiff flex is light enough for me to feel the clubhead and yet stiff enough to keep the ball straight and long. I've been hitting this driver 20 to 30 yards farther than my Taylor Made 320. Cons: Haven't found anything I don't like yet. I wish the price were cheaper...It's all good!
Quality: If you haven't hit a Titleist driver, you're really missing a wonderful experience. The weight distibution is such that you always feel where the clubhead is, which gives you control over the kind of shots you want to play. The dark gray finish is superb and classic looking. All four shaft options are quality shafts and the balance of the club is perfect. Review Summary: If you want a driver that you can hit draws, fades and straight balls, depending on the shot needed, the 983K is just the ticket. Purchase: Bought the 983K through eBay, after having test drove a friends driver. Paid $350 US. Speeder Stiff Pros: Simply the best driver I have ever hit. The large sweet spot makes it almost effortless to hit large straight drives. This club put 25 yards on my average drive. I consistantly used to hit the ball in the 270 yard range and I am now hitting it 290+. Thank you Titleist! Purchase: GolfDom Specialty Store - Tyson's Corner, VA. I paid $449.99. I was getting my driver and ball analyzed in the fitting center, and based on what the data showed, this would be the only model of driver that my fitter would suggest I looked at. I was using a Titleist 975-J driver and was very consistent across the board with my spin rate, launch angle, off-center misses, swing speed and carry. When I went to this club, I gained on average 11 yards of carry, lowered my spin rate and had less off-center of the fairway drives. I went to a bit higher kick-point shaft with the Graphite design y-s 6 shaft. It allow a bit higher launch angle for more carry. Pros: After getting used to the larger head, I love the way this club feels. I am straighter and longer, without additional effort. If I maintain a controlled swing this club does the work for you. it seems that the ball comes off the face like a rocket! Cons: I cannot think of one thing I don't like! Quality: High quality construction that you would expect from Titleist. The glossy grey finish on the clubhead is attractive and pleasing at set-up. The YS-6 shaft is a great complement to the clubhead. The full cord grip is a great advantage during those hot, sweaty summer days. Review Summary: This is a great club - a huge improvement over the 975-J. And I loved the J driver!!! I recommend anyone who is playing a Titleist driver now, and who hasn't made the switch already, to do it NOW!!! It's that good. I recommend getting fitted for shaft and head. You'll love this addition to the Titleist family of clubs. I agree with Phil Mickelson on this one......Tiger does have inferior equipment if he isn't playing this club. Purchase: I purchased the driver from a local golf shop. I play all Titleist equipment except my wedges (Cleveland), so the new driver interested me greatly. I paid $375.00 for the driver before I put in the new shaft (Fujikura Vista Tour 60 X). Pros: Unbelievable Driver!!! More "pop" than Micheal Jackson ever thought about. The ball seems to start on a lower trajectory and then rise to normal height. Very, very consistent. Clubhead is somewhat larger than 975J. I have gained at least 10 yards on average. Cons: Nothing. Quality: Superb quality. The name Titleist says it all. Review Summary: Try this club if you are searching for a new driver. Make sure you are using the correct shaft for your swing. Purchase: Friend purchased for me as a gift. What a gift!!What a friend. Thanks Nat. Pros: Flat out solid. The ball rockets off the face of the club. This driver unlike any other I have played, marries the unusual blend of length and accuracy unlike any other on the market. This driver does not sway off line depsite trying to "kill" the ball provided your swing will allow for an adequate on center contact. For better players this club is the equalizer, and for avarage players it is probably not going to make a huge difference. Cons: So far I do not find any problems with this club other than the low tragectory which is my own fault of getting and 8.5 degree loft. I am a low ball hitter, so this may not have been a wise move for me, but teeing the ball up a bit more alleviated this problem. The ball screams off with fierce penetrating action. Quality: Second to none. Review Summary: Awesome, no other description needed. Do not miss the opportunity to get yourself into better position to score, driving for show and the dough is a better descriptor for this driver. Can't say the same for others.
