Purchase: I bought these babies at golfsmith for $730 including tax. Needed some new sticks; was playing coaches old Top Flite Tour Pro Grinds S (excellent clubs). I was looking for some forged cavities w/ more classic appearance and playability. Chose these over Ping S59, Mizuno MX23, MP30 (loved them, but I was way too intimidated by them, same w/ MP32s), TM RAC LT2 (Crap feel, TM forgot their old style as well as Maxfli's), Cobra Forged Cavity back (very good club, good feel, distance, but not the right playability). They said the ones on the shelf were new, I hit them so damn consistent, I took the set right then and there. Besides, they were the only R shafted 704s they had in stock at the time.
Pros: These clubs are a huge improvement to my game. They feel amazing, they hit a good 10 yards farther than the TFs (as well as my dad's irons I use in the summer), and they are forgiving to the point in which if you hit it high or low in the center of the face, it goes your desire yardage and dead straight. They aren't tennis rackets, but they aren't pin heads either. They have a nice, medium-thin topline, a touch of offset, and a great finish. What scared me about these irons was the small offset (as in, I wanted no offset because it makes me draw the ball too often). The surprise about them was that it didn't give me any draw. This makes them more forgiving while giving them the right amount of playability. Now, I'm not saying you can duck hook them on demand (though it is always an option), but I am saying that you can play them against the wind, and around trees and dog-legs. I didn't think I had any workability with these clubs before I got them, but now that I do, I saw my game go to a whole different level. Due to this, I found my handicap on more technical courses to be the same as my handicap on simple courses (around 11). The perfect club for advancing my game from simple and straight, to giving me more opportunities to shave strokes.
Cons: I would like a bit less offset, but there isn't any other club like it, so I'm happy.
Quality: The quality is so good, it almost confuses me. when I hit at the range and saw the clubs taking wear marks in the middle of them, I thought that they were pemanent. When I cleaned them that night, the marks came right off, no bullshit. They've been doing this after every round I play. Besides, what can you say? It's a Titleist.
Review Summary: If you're looking irons with forgiveness, feel, and still have enough guts to tell you that a bad swing sucks, and a good swing is pure, then give these irons some serious thought. If you have no ball-striking ability, or if you hit the ball like a PGA pro, then there are better selections out there for you. For the rest of us, we'll keep searching for that perfect set for your game. I found mine with Titleist, and I'm happy.
