Purchase: Pagoda Golf Area
Pros: Although these have been out for a few months and I liked the looks of them I guess I didnt give them much of a chance because I had purchased the 704's when they first came out and thought they looked great only to be disappointed with their performance. That being said I gave them a serious look about a month ago. I work PT at a large golf shop and can take out virtually anything and demo for as long as I like, a great benefit for any golf addict. I hit the demo 6 iron w/ the DG300 shaft after numerous buckets on the range I must admit being extremely surprised at the consistency, feel, accuracy and distance control of the iron. I have almost always hit the DG300 shaft probably over 25 years and recently have found the rifle shafts to be more to my likeing. I was a little hesistant because we all know hitting on the range is a lot different than on the course. However I decided to order a set of the stainless 735cm w/ Rifle Project X shaft 5.5 (med stiff) After a few rounds with these babies, I can say without question I made the right call. This is one of the most solid and consistent irons I have ever hit. Short irons have a nice controllable trajectory and are deadly accurate, the muscle back design promotes a solid feel at impact. The cavity backs in the set are a bit more forgiving and the ball flight is boring and consistent as well. Even the 3 iron may make it back into the bag, I find them that easy to hit, and better control than my hybrid. I really love the project X shafts as well. Also graphite like in their shock absorbtion but as consistent as any steel shaft should be. Just overall thrilled with the combo. I'm not going to brag about increased distance they are about the same as I have been getting with my Macgregor 1025CM's. Maybe slightly less than Callaway Xtours but trajectory is not as ballooning in the 8-pw as I feel the Xtours are. I would highly recommend these for anyone 15 handicapped or lower. PLus they are just a damn pretty club to look at with an excellent profile at set up.
