On 2004-08-31, 80\'es crusader rated this Titleist 804 os (custom) a 4...(4235) Review Summary: Was sold on the Mizuno’s MX23's. Read a thread of a guy who swapped his MX23's for the Tiltiest 804's - and found a better all round club! Being the eternal sceptic - I put this down to a Titleist rep writing strategic reviews to throw would be Mizuno buyers off the scent. Decided to see for my self so put them up against each other – via their respective 3, 5,7 & 9 irons. I sat the Mizuno 9 behind the ball and thwacked it high and handsome. So that’s what the forged thing is all about - niiiice. Worked my way down the Mizuno irons, and was all and all ready to part with the hard earned. Gave the Titleists an almost resigned shot at the title. 9 iron thwack 7 - same 5 - not bad 3 - bloody hell, that ball was low and arrow straight, what are these sticks, bows (thoughts of merry robin hoods tights restricting his back swing…….anyways, moving right along………….? Back to the 9 - this time with fade, draw, softly softly, bludgeon, bump and run, thwack, thwack thwack. Could not miss. Concerned, I started looking around the range for the mind reader with the remote range ball controller - he knows where I want to put this thing? Went trough the Tileist with the same range of shots, without missing a beat. In fairness, returned to the Mizuno’s to give the underdogs a shot back at the title (I’m Australian, we always back the underdog). No show, Titleist gets my doe. Try them both for yourself. Also had a crack of the following: Ping G2's, very nice (second only to the 804's) Wilson deep red - distance 2 – long yes, but not in this league for overall club feedback. Mizuno MP30 - could handle them - just! Leave these for now. Off to Ireland to christen the 804's Bon voyage PS - Who ever runs that range down at Croydon UK (Bill Woodman golf), needs a kick in the pants . What’s the story with the golfers in the area? Plywood sheets separate each bay, and fair enough you will always hear 1 or 2 dirty shanks hit 45 deg into the plywood, followed by a humiliated apology from the shankee – not on this range my friend. I was on a range with 15 Brits who were hitting the boards every second time. They had me actually checking angles – could he actually hit me if……. Left the range suffering gun shyness - BANG, BANG, BANG. The boys in the shop are surely obliged to give the punters the first clue in hitting the pill - they guy next to me was trying to hit the ball so hard he was some how getting both feet off the ground at impact From shear fascination, the privacy of my back yard, I tried to mimic his swing, and couldn't. How many gold did these guys get? Call in the lab tests for every one of them I say!
