On 2007-07-08, Clayford Wallace rated this Titleist Futura Phantom Mallet 2 a 5...(7840)

Details: Shaft length 34 inches, black face with gray semi-circular back.

Purchase: I have had trouble lining up short putts with my Callaway Tour Blue TT2. Looked into the Odyssey Two-Ball and Marxman putters, but didn't like using a putter that wasn't milled so my pro had me try his Futura Mallet 2 and told me about the 'three dot system'. I spent an hour at the putting green, then took it to the course and had my lowest total putt count in 8 rounds. This putter has been discontinued, so I found a pre-owned one in almost perfect condition at Golf Galaxy for $125.
Pros: Had a Cameron Laguna and switched to a Callaway Tour Blue TT2. Love the Callaway soft feel and heavier weight relative to my old Cameron putter. However, newer Cameron putters seem to be a little heavier - at least this mallet does - and if you make the three dots on the top of the club head disappear behind the shaft, the club is square and you can fire away with confidence. Short putts have been 'dumbed down' for me, I have no concern over pushing or pulling any putt ever and you stil get the same amazing soft feel of a Cameron putter - the best of both worlds. I also love the contrast of the black putter against the greens. I am not sure why they stopped making it, because my weakness being putting alignment (never distance control) and now I have never been so confident over a putt.
Cons: Not a thing - the price was even great as a 'pre-owned' putter, which as a 'golf purest' I could still care less about.
Quality: Cameron milled putter - enough said.

Review Summary: In 25 years my putter has never been my favorite club in my bag - for the first time putting is what I look forward to most and I can't see ever using anything else.
