Details: 35' Center Shaft
Purchase: I purchased this putter from Bonaventure Golf, a local golf store, paid $225. I have putted with Ping blades and mallets for years. Last year I bought a Ping CrazE mallet after considering the Scotty Cameron Futura. The Futura did not seem to set up as well as the CrazE so I bought the CrazE. I do not remember why I did not look at the Red X then. Recently I picked up one of the Red X putters and hit a few balls. This was the offset heel shafted model and I really liked the solid feel when striking the ball but kept hitting the putts a little off line. I remember thinking I can do that with my CrazE for a lot less money. I have never given a lot of thought to a center shafted model. I have always had an offset shaft. One day while just killing time at the golf store I picked up the center shafted model Red X 2 and gave it a try. Never really knew what the 3 dots were for. Had an idea but did not know how to apply the idea. Well after figuring it out I hit enough putts in or near the hole to grab my attention. The 3 dots make sure you set up with a square and properly lofted face. Not long after that day I was at my home course on the putting green before my tee time and noticed my cart mate had one of the Scotty Red X 2 center shafted models. I was glad to have a chance to hit the putter on an actual green, not just a carpeted sales floor. I made a lot of 3, 5, 10 and 15 foot putts in the short time we practiced. I was hooked. Went to the golf store the next weekend and hit some more putts and sank most of them. Even the misses were closer. Not long after that I took the plunge. I have not regretted it. I immediately went out to a local muny to putt around some. Now the practice greens here are not in real good shape right now but the Red X 2 didn't seem to notice. The head just makes it so easy to hit a firm putt (necessary on these grainy greens) without having to overswing. It also is easy to control the 3 foot down hill slider at my home course. This putter is so solid in every aspect and so easy to set up. The bottom of the head sits flat on the green when you rest it on the green adding to the ease of setting up. Get the head lined up on the line you want and the shaft on the 3 dots and hit away.
Pros: Everything.
Looks, feel, balance, setup, alignment, RESULTS.
Cons: I knew going in that the Scotty Cameron putters were pricey.
Quality: This is top of the line craftmanship.
Review Summary: So far this is the Holy Grail of putters. I absolutely love this putter. I feel like I can make any putt now.
