Purchase: I was looking for a set to replace my Cobra II Oversize irons. I needed something that would be able to work the ball more effectively. My Cobra's were great to get me down into the 80's. I needed more of players set rather than the game improvement qualities of the Cobra's to make the next step. Originally I was looking at Hogans but I found this set on Ebay for $149.99 brand new. At that price I had to buy them.
Pros: Where to start? First off, this set is definitely eye catching. Nice small traditional head size finished with a beautiful crome. At address the thin top line makes these look like precision instruments and oddly they inspire confidence. Who would have thought? The feel of these "cast" clubs is awesome. They don't have that soft feeling of forged clubs but definitely solid at impact. Off center hits feel a bit thin but I expected that with the small head size. Feedback is great from 5-PW, the 3 and 4 are more of a cavity back so it is not as good. Workability with these irons is a thing of beauty. I find again the 3 and 4 are easy to hit straigh but I can't make the ball move where I want it too. Probably more a swing issue than a club issue but nonetheless this is what I found. Again 5-PW wonderful for working the ball. Of note, these irons hit high and land soft. Not much role, so if you're like me and put accuracy ahead of distance these are great. They are not as long as my Cobra's, about 1 club short but I attribute that to being able to swing out of my shoes with my Cobra's and still have the ball fly straight. The V-31 won't let you get away with that.
Cons: Out of deep, heavy rough the irons are not great. You have to lay it up and take you medicine. Also, the grips are not what I prefer but at the cost of the set I can put whatever I want on and still have plenty of cash for green fees.
Quality: Very high quality, beautiful finish. These rank up there with all the topline companies.

Review Summary: These clubs have been discontinued but there are still some out there at unbelievable prices. If you are around a 10-15 handicapper and looking for a set that can take you the next level, definitely give these a try. Personally, this set has got to be the best kept secret out there. Go ahead and pay $500-1000 or more for a set of Hogans, Titleist, Mizuno's etc. But at fraction of the cost this set is hand's down the best deal going. Bottom line buy them if you can, you won't be disappointed.
