Details: Of the three available D2 balls, this review is for the Distance, which comes in the red box. White ball with soft ionomer cover, Polybutadiene core, 332 dimple pattern with 'dimple in dimple' aerodynamic design. Within each dimple is a circular ring which becomes the dimple in dimple design.
Purchase: Received a 3-ball sleeve for free from the Callaway Demo Day at Roger Dunn Golf shop in Santa Ana, CA a while ago. Can't be bad if it's free. Pros: Took this sleeve out to the course to try it out after my friend already took it out and was impressed with its performance. On contact, it's not the usual rock hard feel like the old Top Flite balls such as the XL. This had a softer feel. Maybe it's because of the cover design. Off the tee, the ball flies long and straight. Off the fairway is the same story. Around the greens, the ball works very well, stopping after a bounce or 2 and with some rollback. Usually, I never get any rollback. Maybe the circular dimple inside the dimple creates more grabbing than the standard ball. Putting is nice and soft. Feedback, well, it feels nice. I'm still too new to really get a true feel of the ball. I only know if it feels like a rock or not. Cover scruffs not too evident after a few holes with the wedge. 1 ball will last a whole round, provided you don't land on the cement cartpath along the way. Cons: Nothing I really don't like about this D2 Distance ball. It's a totally different ball compared to the XL series, which I really disliked. Quality: Quality of the Top Flite D2 Distance is nothing out of the ordinary. Quick examination will show each dimple has it's inner dimple. I guess quality control keeps a good eye out for this. Review Summary: A box of 15 balls usually retails for around $15. I'd buy this ball for the value and performance it delivers.

Purchase: Bought these from target. $15 for 15 balls. Pros: This ball is as soft as any of the mid grade balls I have tried. I like playing different balls. This year I have played the Maxfli Fire, Callaway Hot, NXT tour, Srixon Feel, and Top flite. Top Flite is as soft and as far as any of these other balls. I think it is softer than the callaway and the maxfli. The NXT stops better but is no longer or softer than the Top flite. This is a good ball. Cons: I don't generate a lot of back spin with any ball. I can get the NXT to stop with a 7 iron down. These have a bit more run out but nothing uncontrollable. Quality: No issues. Ball seems well made and stands up. Played the same ball through 2 rounds with no scuff marks or cuts. Review Summary: I'll be playing this for the majority of my rounds. Can't beat the ball with anything less than $30 a box. On 2007-03-18, Dee from Tejas rated this Top Flite D2 Distance a 5...(7679)
Details: 2 piece, surlyn cover.
Purchase: WalMart Evans GA. $16 box of 15 balls. I heard alot of good things about these new balls from Top Flite. Had to give them a try. Pros: This is one of Top Flite's new generation of balls based upen the new 'Dimple in Dimple' design. I have been a Top Flite guy for quite a while now. These new Top Flites are the best to come along from them in a long, long time. Very long off the driver. Alot softer feel off the wedges that I expected from a distance ball. Released a bit more than a premium ball, but I got used to that right away. Loved the feel off the putter as well. Very durable too. I hit a couple trees with it and it still looked new. Very satisfied with this ball. Cons: Nothing, Nada. These balls are an excellent value. Golfers who are paying alot more money on balls should give these a try. Save money, play more golf. These balls feel like balls that cost several dollars more. For alot less money. Quality: Excellent quality, 2 piece ball. Surlyn cover.New dimple in dimple design. Very durable. Hit a couple trees with this ball and it still looked as good as new. Review Summary: Go get a box or two of these, and have fun playing more golf.
