Details: This is the green D2 packaging, there's blue (straight) and red (distance) for the different styles of D2's.
Purchase: Bought a sleeve at a big golf shop in SoCal, I think it was around 4 dollars. I bought it because, like so many of us, I am obsessed with gear, and the ads worked. I had abandoned Top Flites for good (I thought) and then came the D2 hype. I try lots of balls in an effort to find the most distance without sacrificing feel. Hogan Hawk is a favorite (due to the urethane cover), Nike Ignite, NXT Tour, Maxfli Fire, HX Hot, Precept U-Tri Tour, and others that I'll choose based on what's on sale. I thought I had moved on permanently from Top Flites, but 'what if the new one was not actually bad?' Pros: I like it a lot. It looks good, it has the alignment aid for putting (which some people really appreciate) and the dimple-in-dimple thing is interesting. Rumors abound that the Callaway folks were going to put dimple-in-dimple pattern in their balls (because it really works) but had too much invested in the 'HEX' line to switch, so Top Flite (which Callaway owns) got to use it. Golf Digest's Hot List 2007 (D2 was a silver medal winner) said 'Top-Flite has gone too long without meaningful innovation, but this ball ends that drought.' ...and I agree. Had Golf Digest not said that, no matter what the commercials say (which are really funny), I'd never have tried them. This ball is long. It goes and goes. I swing regular flex clubs, 90-100 MPH with driver, and I average 230 on a drive, (average means some more, some less) and 250-265 on a rip...and D2 flies to the high end of my range. Very cool! For the $$, it is OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD! Cons: The D2-Feel has the softest cover of the various models, but it's not like it's a 'soft' cover relative to all other balls out there. Urethane is the softest, surlyn/ionomer etc. simply aren't as soft. So the D2-Feel is good, but won't spin back unless you're really good at spinning the hell out of a ball. I am not in love with it off the putter. It's not BAD. It's better than some, but it's not awesome. To be fair, it's a first impression. I will play another couple of rounds with it and see if it was the ball or me. Quality: High quality! It's brilliant white, great paint, cool logo. It won't scuff. VERY DURABLE...making them an even-more-outrageous value! Review Summary: Bottom line: AWESOME ball, especially for the money. I think the D2-Feel is really good. For regular everyday/practice rounds you'd be a fool to buy a more expensive ball. When Callaway made this a much-improved ball, they made their Warbird and Big Bertha balls totally obsolete. (unless you have a stigma in your group about the Top Flite name...which I understand some people do, but I don't have). Practice your bump and runs and enjoy the ball. It's right up there with the best of the distance balls and it beats many higher-priced ones too, and easily. It was a pleasant surprise. The distance is GREAT, the feel is pretty good, and the price makes it spectacular. If you play Berthas, AD333, NXT, Exception, XP3, SoLo, MoJo, Noodle, Juice 312, Nike Power Distance, or any other 2 piece ball...you're missing out and wasting money. If you like a softer cover and can honestly tell the difference, go ahead and ignore this ball. If you play any other bargain ball you're short-changing yourself on $$ and distance. It's definitely not a 'rock flite'...the other D2's might be (I don't know)...but D2-Feel isn't. I need a non-rock, and like softer covers...and on meaningful rounds might play a little softer (a.k.a. nicer) ball...but for everyday fun rounds...this one will always be in the running when I go golf ball shopping! Overall for a person with a 10 or higher-handicap, it's a 4/5, for the price it's a 7/5! My opinion is that at least 90% of golfers would LOVE this ball.

Details: D2 Feel
Purchase: A friend of mine gave me a sleeve to try out. I immediately went to my local Wal-Mart and bought a couple boxes -$15.99 (15 pack). Pros: Distance of the tee was impressive. The D2 was longer than the NXT tour ball that I had been playing for the last year. Wedge shots spun well or stopped on a dime. I could work the ball both ways at will and the trajectory was ideal. I can't believe the cost is almost a dollar per ball. Cons: I don't like the name on the ball. The ball feels a little clunky of the putter at first, but it is easy to adjust. Quality: The design seems to do what it says it does. I am always teaching my students the importance of aiming properly and the cross hair alignment aid really helps. Review Summary: The Top Flite D2 Feel golf ball is worth a try. I was very hesitant to put the ball in play at first and now its the only ball in my bag. If you want to save money and play a quality ball give these a try. On 2007-04-25, golfnut50 rated this Top Flite D2 Feel a 1...(7728)
Details: Dimple in Dimple, Available in Feel, Distance and Straight.
Purchase: I bought these used on Ebay 18 each for $12.00 They were rated as 'Pristeen Mint' Pros: On the plus side this ball is priced according to it's performance ( cheap). The new dimple design makes the ball look new and improved. Cons: In my humble opinion a lot of time was wasted by Callaway personnel in the development of this new Dimple in Dimple design, It does little to improve ball flite or putting performance. The cover is still far to hard. I spin balance all my golf balls before play, sadly 5 of the 18 were so far out of round that I was unable to spin them fast enough to stabilize and mark them. There are to many different models to be concidered a serious contender for any average to better player. Even with the advertizing hype buy some used D2's to try before you buy too many at retail. This is a small improvement in an otherwise satisfactory range grade ball. Quality: Clever design, Nice looking. Review Summary: Sorry, but it's still like hitting a rock. Details: Gift in an order
Purchase: Free sleeve Pros: I was very surprised at the D2 and it's length and some-what feel around the greens. Apparently, Callaway wanted to use the D2 patent but had already has too much invested in the hex brand. good performer for the money. Seems compatible to HX Hot or NXT. I think Top Flite should quit changing it's identity every year and stay with a line that works.... Cons: I can't get it to stop and check like an NXT Tour on a greenside chip. Not bad though. Quality: Holds up well. It's cover holds scuffs well, however, don't expect to put any putter alignment markings on the straight brand because the cover won't retain it. Review Summary: A great leap forward for the price. They really have used their technology to advance the duffer in this one. You've got to try it!!!
