On 2002-09-12, TODD H. rated this Wilson I-Wound Golf Balls a 4...(532)

Purchase: Purchased balls at local Golf Discount in Kansas City, KS. I had been interested in comparing these balls with other 2-piece, 2-cover balls and wound balls. The ball were regularly $35 but were on sale for $15.
Pros: The balls seem heavy and hard like a 100 compression ball. Off the tee, they feel solid and have a high trajectory like a balata ball (Titleist Professional 100), but with more forgiveness for slices and hooks, yet carry like a regular 2-piece ball upon impact on the fairway. With short irons, they have a straight flight with a high trajectory and stop on a dime! I used my Wilson Fat-shaft irons and Deep Red drivers when testing these balls.
Cons: I didn't have any particular dislikes other than I assume these balls are 90 compression because the coloring in the balls was a burgundy as opposed to black or red.
Quality: The construction is solid; didn't an "equator" around the ball. Durable after several rounds; didn't seem "smoothed" over and don't scuff easily.

Review Summary: I would recommed these balls for players with a fast swing speed but also for the players who have more control yet lack the raw power in their swing. With players who are inconsistent off the tee with slices or hooks, they should not expect the forgiveness of 2-piece, 2-cover balls, yet will enjoy the ball when hit properly.
