On 2009-04-05, Dee rated this Wilson Staff Fifty a 5...(8313)

Details: Golf ball. Round, white, with dimples. Cover is a bit shinier than other 2 piece balls I've played.

Purchase: Purchased these balls at Wal Mart in Evans, GA for oh, about $16 I think they were.
Pros: What I like... this ball has a nice, soft feel to it thats not 'too soft'. Everything about it is good. Great off the tee. Long, boring ball flight. Not alot of side spin, or spin period. I hit my approaches pretty high on good hits, so the ball does not roll much after it lands. Usually just a few feet. Chipping and putting with this ball is a treat. Durability. Not bad. The ball is shinier than most 2 and 3 piece balls I've played. Dimples are shallower and a bit larger than other balls.
Cons: Nothing. Overall a decent 2 piece ball. I wish they came in boxes of 15 though.
Quality: This is a high quality, affordable 2 piece ball.

Review Summary: I wish they came in boxes of 15. Instead of just a dozen.

On 2007-06-05, Gordy S. rated this Wilson Staff Fifty a 5...(7791)

Details: Shallow dimple, soft, two piece construction, fifty compression.

Purchase: Acquired a free sleeve from a promotion at Austads Golf. Usually play Titleist DT SoLos. The Staffs are cheaper by the dozen than the Titleists. [$15.99 as opposed to $19.99]
Pros: The feel is tremendous. The softest ball that I have ever played, and I have tried them all. Distance is ten to fifteen yards further than the SoLos, even on mis-hits. Trajectory is high and piercing. The only two piece ball that I can make check up on chips and pitches. Better than the Pro V1 [in my opinion].
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Putts soft and true, flies like a jet and stops on a dime. What's not to like?
Quality: Two piece construction with 312 shallow dimples, which give it a more stable flight. Durability is better than average, but can still be scuffed after about ten holes or so.

Review Summary: I would recommend this ball for anyone who wants the following: soft feel, great distance, greenside control, true feel on putts and a great value. Wilson has hit a home run, and this is from someone who is a died in the wool Titleist ball snob.
