On 2005-08-18, Bryan O\'Brien rated this Wilson Deep Red II Tour Irons S300 Shafts a 5...(6068)

Purchase: I bought these irons new on Ebay for $210 last November(2004).I had seen them advertised before and swung them at a wilson dealership
Pros: I like the way they set up to the ball.Minimal offset.I like the classic design of the tour irons.I had changed from a set of Wilson RM midsize with 2.8 rifle shafts which were so bladelike after a hard nights drinking you could shave yourself on the first tee with them.! I hit the Deep Reds slightly shorter and a little higher (due to more weight at base ) than the traditional blades I was used to.But the spray pattern was alot tighter. When I'm on my game now Its like throwing darts. When u strike the ball pure its like taking a nice chunk of velvet. A+
Cons: The only slight complaint I might have is they fly a little higher than I'm used to and they're not as easy to shape as a blade.Sometimes the ball goes too straight! But its more of an adjustment then a complaint.
Quality: The construction of the unit is first class.Wilson made a few dodgy products in the last few years but they are back to their best. They ding a little in the bag but thats typical with a forged club.I have them 8 months and they still look great.True temper shafts and wilson Golf Pride grips. You can't ask for better.

Review Summary: When I was growing up Wilson was the premier name in golf.As far as I my peers and alot of the top tour professionals and major championships winners at the time were concerned,Wilson irons were "THE" brand of irons to have. The were just classy, well made golf clubs.Something happened for a few years and they started making inferior quality clubs for the entry level market. (I.e They started making crap!) Big Mistake! BUT, after playing these clubs for a while I have to say (in my opinion) Wilson are back where they belong making premier crafted classic clubs and I am very happy to see it.Wilson golf have had alot of prestige and honour associated with their name.It was damaged for while (presumably by some idiot at Wilson who only saw dollar signs) But It seems somone at Wilson with alot of integrity, foresight and an appreciation of their long History is making the decisions again! Long may they continue. It makes a young but very traditional golfer like myself very Happy!

Will Michelle Wie now go to the next level? - I can’t say that I’m a huge Michelle Wie fan.

She’s a gifted golfer and, even at 20 years old, has shown glimpses of the talent we’ve heard about for the last 10 years or more. So I do have t...(Click Headline For More!)
