On 2007-07-09, Larry Ridge rated this Wilson Di7 Steel a 5...(7843)

Details: Di7 steel

Purchase: I had been using Wilson Deep Red Fat shaft irons for 2 years and like them, but I like to change clubs every few years. I liked the reviews on the Di7 irons (I didn't care for the look of the Di5 irons from last year so I waited). I got my set from TGW for $400. I also bought the sand wedge.
Pros: I love the look of these irons. My golfing buddy got a new set of TM R7TP irons at the same time. Mine look better. These irons are very long, of course the lofts are more aggressive then normal. I am 65 so I usually had to take one or two long clubs than my partners, but with these clubs I take the same as them. I really like how these feel on impact. The low profile of these clubs cause my ball flight to be higher than my old irons.
Cons: There is no option for different flex in the steel shafts. It's uniflex or uniflex. I don't like graphite for iron shafts. Although I can't tell if a lighter flex would help, it would be nice to have the option. I liked the stepless shafts of my old set better for looks.
Quality: The grips are high quality Golf Pride with Red caps. The shafts are special made wide tip True Temper light weight. The heads are cavity back with undercut channels and are finishe in black and red polymer paint. The design is very similar to the Taylor Made R7. The iron head toe is very noticeably reduced. The construction is absolutely perfect.

Review Summary: Don't be fooled by the popularity of other brands. Wilson makes very good golf equipment and commands much higher prices in Europe. We are lucky to be able to get this quality at bargain prices. I am very satisfied and set for a couple more years.
