Purchase: After renting the clubs while at a golf course in Las Vegas, I decided to look around for a set. I was used to swinging with a cheap set of irons, but after hitting the ball a bit straighter, I purchased a used set on eBay for approximately $180.00. Pros: My long iron shots are straighter and I have gained a little more confidence playing with the irons. Cons: The only complaint that I have is with distance. I am unable to hit with as much distance with my previous irons. I hit the ball with more consistancy but need to club up with each shot. If I usually use a seven iron for a shot, I will club up and grab a six iron. Since the shafts are considerably larger, the club is also a good bit heavier than clubs that I am used to playing. Quality: Definitely a high quality product. The clubs that I received came with Kelmac grips, which have such a tacky grip that I am unable to use a glove, otherwise there would be a hole in the glove by the end of the round. Review Summary: To be honest, I am a beginning golfer at best. In the past, I would hit a good shot and then slice the nice shot like a piece of Velvetta. Since purchasing the Wilson Fat Shafts, I have been able to hit the ball with a little more consistancy. I am very pleased with the clubs and recommended the clubs to anyone that is looking to hit the ball straighter. On 2002-07-17, Brett Burgess rated this Wilson Fat Shaft a 4...(282)
Purchase: I purchased 3 through pitching wedge on an Ebay auction for $290. Regular flex graphite shafts. Purchased a sand wedge for $60 throught a web retailer. I had Wilson clubs before and wanted to step up to a better club. Deep Red's came out but they were expensive so I went with the Fat Shafts. Pros: I dropped 2 clubs to get the same length comparable to my old clubs. I now use a 9 iron where I used to use a 7 iron. These clubs hit the balls high, that makes it easier to hit greens. The Fat Shaft really keeps the shots going straight, I used to have a slight fade but now the ball goes straight. Sometimes, I can even get a little draw. Be careful, if you line up off line your shot might end up where you were aiming. Cons: The only complaint I have about the clubs is appearance. After playing a couple of rounds with them there are slight marks on the face of the clubs where a ball made contact. You can not seem to clean them off. Quality: Well constructed. Wilson did this club right. From top to bottom a great club. Review Summary: These are great clubs, would like to test a set of Deep Red's if they are an improvement over these. I have shot my personal best round this year with the Fat Shafts.
