On 2003-06-19, Mike Austin rated this Wilson RM Fat Shaft a 4...(1573)
Purchase: I used Wilson Tour blades for a number of years and found that as you get older the clubs get a little less forgiving. It took me two years to find a club that I felt good with, on the golf course and purchased the Wilson Fat shaft Irons. This would be the first year that they made this shaft and I am very happy with the way the club reacts with the Ball. I am a 6 handicap so what I am going to tell you is not shots that typically a low handicap would do to damage clubs.I don't hit from mats, and never have done, I have never broken a shaft but what is happening, is that the top of the club Hozzle to the actual club head, is bending. The shaft is pinned to the head, and as I was told the heat treat on the first batch did not take, so was soft. I have since had these repaired by a Wilson rep. and now find them to be bending again.I paid $1000.00 CDN for Pitch to 1 iron and love the clubs, but as you can imagine any degree of offset other than manufactures specs. will effect your shot. This is just my concern over the fat shaft. Wilson have offered to repair the clubs without cost, but will leave me for at least a month without the clubs I like.
Pros: I like the feel of the club, and the high ball into the green. A great buy once I get the problems resolved.
Cons: Shaft bending at the head.
Quality: Construction is good with a manufacturing floor. The hozzles have since been reduced in lenght.
Review Summary: A great club for any golfer.
