On 2009-08-30, kevboy_Telford rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 5...(8528)

Details: Multi coloured standard length

Purchase: sent by Golfgearreview to test
Pros: made the driven ball go straight (not necessarily in the right direction!) Haven't sliced 1 drive with this tee which is praise indeed Last a whole round without braking.
Cons: putting them into hard ground is hard work and can make them bend. (or you have to bend it to become straight). Would not play it on a hard course in the summer....
Quality: plasticy feel but well made (and very bright in colour!)

Review Summary: would be nice to be a bit stronger so it wont bend when putting it in the ground. But it makes the ball go straight with the driver so .....Go and buy it

On 2009-08-14, DON rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 5...(8509)

Details: I tested all 4 sizes of these tees. All colors as well.

Purchase: I got them directly from the company to test and review.
Pros: These are pretty much the BEST golf tee you can buy. I've used all 4 sizes and they all perform very well. I like the short 1-3/4' tees for my irons. The 2-3/4' tees pushed down into the ground a lot for my woods. And I use the 3-1/4' tees most of the time for my driver. When I want to launch the ball a bit higher, I use the 4' tees for a higher launch angle and more carry. ONe of the best things about all of these tees, is they don't break very often. I can play 18 holes with one tee for my driver.
Cons: They are a little hard to stick into the ground when the tee area is firm or in cold weather. This is due to the tee bending. The Black tees are not very easy to find after your shot, as they don't show up very well in green grass. I don't think you need the 2-3/4' tees, as the longer 3-1/4' tees work better for a modern 460CC driver, and the shorter 1-3/4' tees work great for irons or woods.
Quality: Quality is excellent, top rate all the way.

Review Summary: Excellent high performance tees. When I play golf with my wife, she used to break one tee for every hole. She broke the tee EVERY time she hit her driver. NOW, she can play 18 holes and once need ONE ZEro Friction Tee for the whole round. YES, they cost more to buy, BUT, they last so long they end up being cheaper to use. And you don't need to carry a dozen of them, only one or two will do. I like the white color tees the best, as they are the easiest to find after a shot. I also have notice an increase in driving distance with the Zero Friction Tees. I've hit my longest drives using these tees. NOTE, you may not be able to get the 4' tees locally, as they are made only for the Long Drive Competitors, and not sold in stores. I'm hoping this will change soon.

Details: Standard driver size (3 1/4 inch), various colors. 3-pronged tip ball holder.

Purchase: Received 2 promotional bags from GolfGearReview.com.
Pros: This tee is very sturdy. One tee lasted an entire round with very minimal damage from my driver. The pronged tip is also very sturdy. I normally use Brush-T. As a comparison, I didn't really notice much difference between the Zero Friction and the Brush-T. Although the price of ZF tees are a lot cheaper.
Cons: Nothing, except all the pink tees I got in the promotional package. (joking)
Quality: The tee is very strong and sturdy. I didn't have any problems inserting it into the ground.

Review Summary: Excellent tee and highly recommended, especially for its durability.

On 2009-07-30, prov1tony rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 5...(8484)

Details: I received two promotional bags with three in each bag two orange and one pink. the tees are 2.75 inches long and have three prongs at the crown of the tee to support your ball.

Purchase: I was given 6 of the Zero Friction tees by Golf Gear Review to try out in exchange for a review. But the tees can be purchased at most golf stores. I bought a bag of 50 at Golf Smith for $4.99
Pros: The obvious attribute to like about the Zero Friction tee is that it looks very similar to the traditional tee we are used to using. Not that any of us are opposed to change. The main difference is the cost, the three posts at the crown of the tee unlike the bowl shape we are used to, and the nearly unbreakable material they are made from. Basically though they look the same as the traditional wooden tees most of us use. The Zero friction tees are similar to the other new tees on the market in that they all claim to have less ball contact at impact and so less friction and lower spin equaling more distance and straighter shots providing you have a perfect swing like mine. I just did a review of the brush tee. You can look it up but I did not really care for them although they do give less friction and lower spin as do the Zero friction tees. So we are getting back to basics, kind of. The original tees were a clump of sand formed into a cone shape with a little led bell shaped device kind of like what Laura Davies used to use on tour. I have one but have never used it. So like you the whole reason to buy anything in golf is performance and I am happy to say the Zero Friction Tee does perform. So much so that I have switched over to them and bought my son and my swing coach a bag each. So how much distance does it give you? Well if you are like me your swing is never exactly the same so distance on a drive can vary from five to ten yards every time I hit it. But that being said I would calculate that I am getting at least five additional yards out of my Zero Friction Tees. The other thing that I like and was not really advertised is I think that these tees help when your shot is a bit of a miss. I think that it is not as noticeable on a miss shot. I have had several times where I expected to have a lousy result from a miss shot with the Zero Friction Tee and well the ball came out a little low but still had the distance. That is a big plus. So the claim that Excel Golf Tee, Inc. makes that the Zero Friction Tee will give you an additional 5 yards distance and 7 yards more accuracy than any other distance tee I would say is a valid claim. I tend to break a lot of tees and have tried using the expensive Epoch tees that have a similar design to the Zero Friction Tee. My experience was that the Epoch tees broke after one use but I have yet to break one of the Zero Friction Tees. So this makes these tees well worth the money. When using wooden tees, I use the Calloway 3 ¼” white tees and the 1 ¼” orange tees they are a bit more expensive and a lot less durable. I pay 13 dollars for a bag of 150 long tees and 75 short tees in a combo bag. The Zero Friction tees are 4.99 for a bag of 50 which is basically a lifetime supply. So I don’t like these tees I love them.
Cons: The colors are not my choice. If I had a choice they would be white. This would make them easier to find when they go flying in the air.
Quality: The tees are well made and almost indestructible. I have not broken one yet but I am careful to place them in the ground so that one prong is pointed down the fairway. I am not sure that makes a difference but that was in the literature on line. They maintain their shape after using the same tee for 6 rounds it is still like new.

Review Summary: I love these tees just not the color. They are just the right length to be used for driver or 3 wood as long as the ground is not frozen. So maybe a shorter tee would be in order this winter. I just can not see how they are going to make any money on these tees. They are inexpensive and last forever.

Details: Multi color tees..

Purchase: free tees to try paid zero
Pros: the ball flies right off the tee
Cons: I only got 6
Quality: plastic and straight

Review Summary: the only thing that can make them better would be height lines on the tee stem so you can get a consistent ball height when you tee you the ball

On 2009-06-29, Rob Pinard rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 4...(8446)

Details: Many colors.

Purchase: Sent to me to review from Golf Gear Review.
Pros: i really like using the Zero Friction Tee. I like the durability of the tee. It allows you to only carry one or two at a time and not a pocket full, since it does not break on every tee shot. I have noticed that I am hitting the ball a little farther than normal off the Zero Friction Tee but I'm not sure if it is the tee or something different I'm doing with my swing.
Cons: The only thing that I don't like so far is that sometimes it is difficult to get the ball to sit on the tee...especially if the tee is slanted forward or back.
Quality: Quality is very good.

Review Summary: I really like using the Zero Friction tee and will continue to use them from now on more than likely.

On 2009-06-26, laney rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 3...(8443)

Details: Standard driver size (not extra long) Assorted colors

Purchase: Received free in exchange for review.
Pros: Company. Excel is a division of Excel Dowel, which is listed as and LLC in Illinois. I like the idea of supporting a small company that is providing jobs to Americans and hanging in against the corporate giants. Economy. I'm listing this as a plus. Even though they cost more, they last almost forever, and may consume less net resources because of this.
Cons: Ecology. I've heard the course maintenance guys at my usual course complaining that these tees do not decompose, and tear up the mowers. I know they are making a wood version now that fixes this issue. Appearance. If you like the sleek techno look, the look may appeal to you. I have to put up with the harassment I get about them ('real men play with real tees'). Ease of use. The plastic is slick, and slides into the ground easily. This is a plus in hard ground. It's a negative in soft ground, as it can take a little extra time to get the height set. It takes some extra effort to get the ball to stay on the tee, with only 3 prongs. It's not good for the mind to have the ball be falling off the tee, and feel like a klutz just before I strike the ball. I wonder if they have tested 4 prongs? Also, there is another tee that has traditional style, but the bowl the tee sits in is cut deeper, so that there is contact only at the circumference.
Quality: Durability. I did manage to break one teeing up a short iron, but that had to be a one in a million event. I have bent them in the past, but not this time around. They are pretty indestructible. The issue is remembering to pick them up after the tee shot, and taking the time to find them when they fly off.

Review Summary: Performance. Isn't this the question that matters? When I get the opportunity, I will take them out on a deserted fairway and hit some balls with both the Zero Frictions and my regular wooden tees. I'll update this review. In the meantime, I'm playing in a tournament this weekend, and I find that I want my Zero Frictions. I have the feeling that contact is freer with them. Is it psychological? I don't really care right now... I have more negatives than positives listed above, but that's the detailed analytical perspective. I'M GOING TO BUY SOME MORE OF THEM.

On 2009-06-24, srushing rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 4...(8442)

Details: These were Pink and Yellow and about 3' long

Purchase: Sent as an item to review
Pros: I like the fact that the tees don't break as easily as traditional wooden tees. These are more durable and have a hi-tech look to them.
Cons: These seemed to bend easily when being inserted into the ground, so you routinely had to re-shape them after a few holes. The concept of the tee I believe is that the way the ball sits on top of the prongs, the tee does not impact much if any friction on the ball thereby making the ball only react to the striking of the clubface. I could see no real difference over how I hit with a regular tee in terms of performance when compared to my normal shot shape and distance.
Quality: Other than the bending nature of the tees, the construction seemed high quality

Review Summary: If you are a person who likes the latest and greatest technology, or you're tired of breaking tees every couple holes, these may be for you. They do bend frequently. The science behind the construction makes sense though it's not clear without exhaustive testing with a golf-robot making the same swing over and over whether or not the science is valid.

Details: 2 3/4' tees, plastic, varied colors

Purchase: Received a free 6 tee sample from this website
Pros: I use a Taylormade R360xd Driver which the tees were sized perfectly for. I really like the fact that i didn't break a single tee, and i also noticed a couple of extra yards farther on the driving range.
Cons: Not a fan of plastic tees, next time i'll try the wooden version from Zero friction.
Quality: Complete consistency, not a single flaw in any of these tees

Review Summary: I liked these tees, I will trying the wood tees very soon. I am also looking forward to trying the new balls by this company, which came with these tees in the box. Overall I'm very happy with their performance.

Purchase: Sample pack from GolfGearReview
Pros: Durability. Usually I break a tee almost every other drive. I was able to use one tee for almost the whole round. (Lost one on a par 3, took too much divot and tee flew somewhere) Pretty sure it was still intact just somewhere I could not find it.
Cons: Nothing
Quality: Great durability.

Review Summary: Tee's last forever.

On 2009-05-15, ChrisB rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 4...(8367)

Details: These were the white performance tees with the three pronged head. Zero Frictions site says the Zero Friction golf tees provide significantly less resistance than a traditional golf tee because of the reduced surface area of the top or head. They are available in 4 sizes. 1 3/4 and 2 3/4 inch long tees are packaged 50 per package and the new 3 and 1/4' tee is packaged 35 tees per package for those super large faces on the new drivers out there today. There is reportedly a 4 inch size as well, but that size may not be readily available to all. All Zero Friction Tees are manufactured with biodegradable materials which will not harm mowers, or the golf course ecosystem - so they're safe for the environment! Also, the Zero Friction Tees are played on the PGA Tour and as such, must conform with USGA Rules.

Purchase: I was playing a course with some buddies and realized when we got there that I was out of the longer tees I use with my new large face driver. When I walked into the Pro Shop, they were running a little special on a package of white Zero Friction tees. I want to say I paid about $2 for a pack of 10. It seemed that they had them repackaged differently that you see them in the stores.
Pros: Durability and low resistance. For the first time in my life I played an entire round with one tee. I almost lost it a few times, but it just wouldn't break. Not sure why they even advertise the environmentally friendly features of this product, because you might never use more than a few of them! In all seriousness, it was really impressive. I would have gone through 6 to 10 regular wooden tees in the same time frame. Of course, the most advertised feature of these tees is the low resistance. Now, for someone at my level this probably is not that big of a deal - but every bit helps. I can say that I played pretty well today, so whether or not the tee contributed I will leave up to the gods.
Cons: There's really nothing to dislike. They are relatively inexpensive considering how much use you'll get out of them. They are environmentally friendly, and they are engineered to provide less resitance during contact. What more could you want.
Quality: Amazingly tough and durable. I probably stepped on it a few times, bent it slightly and it snapped back and smacked a ball off of it about 15 times in one day. The only thing I didn't do was push it way down into the ground when teeing off on par 3's. That probably would have been a good test to see how it withstood the force, but I will save that for next time out.

Review Summary: Overall, I'm very pleased. The Zero Friction tees are biodegradable and environmentally friendly, they are built to reduce resistance, and they are tough as nails. What more could you ask from a golf tee. Bravo Zero Friction for a job well done.

Details: 2 3/4 inch, biodegradable

Purchase: Golf Galaxy and Austad's Golf. $4.99 or so for a pack of 50.
Pros: These tees are incredibly durable! The first time I tried one, was when I found one on the tee box. To my surprise I played the next few rounds with the same tee, only to lose it somewhere on the course. I also have been hitting the ball better than ever. The sidespin reduction makes enough of a difference, especially if you have a consistent ball flight. My misses with the driver are a lot less ugly. I use this tee with not only the driver, but every club in the bag! No, this product will not cure your hook or slice. But I do know for sure that when I have a huge miss in the round it's a lot closer to the fairway.
Cons: Nothing!
Quality: Long lasting. Durability is excellent. I've tried the epoch evolution golf tees and the zero frictions are more durable. One of my epochs actually cracked. I have never broken a zero friction! In fact, to break it, you have to work on it for a while or just try cutting it with scissors.

Review Summary: I have been extremely happy with the zero friction tees. I have yet to break one of these. They seem to help off the tee as well. I don't use regular tees anymore and I have certainly saved some money. I prefer these over the epoch tees although I am not sure if one is statistically better than the other. Give them a try and I guarantee that you will be hooked. You wont want to use any other tee.

On 2005-10-28, Mr_Divots rated this Zero Friction Performance Tees a 5...(6349)

Purchase: I found two of these tees at the driving range one night. I subsequently bought a package of 50 tees for $5 at Golf Galaxy.
Pros: I bought a pack of these because they are so durable. I don't know that the design really helps me to hit the ball any longer or straighter, but these things just last forever! I have yet to break one (granted, I don't use them for iron shots off the tee.) Much more durable than the Epoch tees. I have hit some very nice drives while using these. Maybe they help?
Cons: It would be nice if they came in different lengths. They only come in 2 3/4" length at this time. I have found that to be tall enough for my 460cc drivers, however.
Quality: The two tees I found at the range I am still playing, and that was about 2 months ago! The only tees that have been "lost" are the ones I gave to people to try. I think a pack of 50 could last a person quite a while! Much better than wooden tees, or the competitor's brand.

Review Summary: Great product. I was disappointed in the durability of the competition, and blown away how durable the Zero Frictions are! Maybe these help drive the ball straighter too, but not needing to buy tees for a long time is the best part of these. Give 'em a try, they're worth it!
