Anyone see the movie "Sideways" last year? One scene was the 2 friends playing golf and some jerks hit into them and then taunted them. So the one guy (who up until then had been spraying the ball all over) drops a ball, turns around, and rifles a shot right back at them!

I also like that idea Aimee. I might start carrying a few cheap worn out balls in my bag just for this. Pick up their ball and replace it with a cheap on, and place it next to a tree or stomp it into the ground a little. Not a bad idea. A couple of times we've been waiting in the tee box right behind the last green, and had a ball or two come our way. No big deal, if the golfer say he's sorry, but when they act like it's our fault for standing there, it's "stomp time".

Aimee, that's not just in a movie. That used to be the rule. If someone hit into you more than once, you hit it back to them. I've done that several times in my life. Unfortunately, I've also hit into people on purpose (not airborne though). However, as I moved through time I set those childish actions aside. Today, if you hit into me, I will most likely put the ball on a tee for you and go on my way. If you're in fron of me and playing too slow, I have a little more patience.

It's a constant battle on the golf course, my husband is a real "Type A" who fumes over slow players, I'm a real "Type B" that says, where are you rushing to? We play fast, so we almost always wind up catching the folks in front of us. So it's doubly infuriating when someone hits into us when there is NOWHERE TO GO!!! How nice it must be to belong to a private club where they don't try to jam as many tee times in an hour as possible...

My dad had a corporate membership at a private club years ago. It's not always cracked up to what you think it is. We were hit into on more than one occasion. Once by the club president!!

I think sometimes if people think they have all the time in the world, they play too slowly too and you catch up to them.

My pet peeve is: rangers when you don't need them, never around when you do need them. My home course is notorious for not having a ranger on days they need one, and then having one when the place is empty, and driving past you 12 times during your round 'cause he has nothing to do.

Aimee, I was ready to see the movie based on that scene alone, it was hysterical, and the movie was good too! Have any of you ever seen a fight on the course, or heard of one? I haven't. You would have to leave the course probably, woudn't you? Maybe it could be settled with a sudden death playoff, and the loser has to go home; you know, just like in real life.
