I have noticed that in golf games it seems that the pros use a 2 iron rather than the 5 wood, but on the other hand most sets of clubs have the 5 wood and 3-pw.....so my question is, which is better to use?

For most of us, probably the 5 wood. Heck, even Tiger has a 5 wood that he seems to use more than the 2 iron these days. I have a couple of them that came with some sets I own, and they usually only make it to the range for some fun (the 2 irons that is...)

Well, yeah, I use hybrids too. Have for years now. It's all what you are comfortable with. Hybrids are great for their shorter shafts for more control. You may give up a little distance, but for many people (myself included) the more confident swing with a hybrid can lead to the same or even better distance than a similarly lofted fw woods.

Truth is, most golfers can't hit a 3 iron well enough to be carrying it their bag, so a 2 iron would be stupid to have in there. If you read the recommendations in the golf magazines, the instructors all say that most golfers would be better off if they took their 3 and 4 irons out of the bag. I don't carry a 3 or 4 iron at this time. I've got a 7 wood that I hit a lot better than a 4 iron, and a 9 wood that I can use if it suits my yardage situation. To tell the truth, I don't even use my 5 iron that much in a round. Bottom line is that you should only carry those clubs in your bag, that you can hit well, and that means consistantly good shots. For a lot of golfers, that means leave the 3 and 4 irons at home, and replace them with either higher lofted woods, or hybrids. Which one is a matter of how well you hit them. Some golfers can hit the hybrids better than the equillent wood. Me, I prefer woods. I've got a hybrid, but in my testing, I can't see where it would improve my game at this time to carry it. The opposite could be truth for you, so you need to try some wood and hybrids, and long iron if you insist, and find out what works well for you.
