I had a couple of comments about this match play but haven't had time to get in here type it out.

I watched Tiger and O'hern play and noticed some things in Tiger that really turns me off to him now. Even the announcers (Faldo) made comments about it.

Tiger had a bad hole and missed par or bogey putt. O'hern had about a 15' putt that he had to 2 putt to win the hole. After Tiger missed his putt he stormed about threw his putter down and was so involved in throwing a tantrum that he didn't even have time to think about conceding the hole. O'hern just needed to 2 putt from 15'. Faldo made a comment about his antics and mentioned that Tiger should concede the hole instead of acting out.

I understand that he lost the hole and he was going to take a chance on O'hern 3 putting from 12-15'. But it was his antics and the fact that O'hern was willing to concede putts to him all through the match.

But that wasn't all, I also noticed on at least 2 times that Tiger and O'hern had almost exact same putts on the same hole and O'hern would tell Tiger to pick it up but Tiger would make O'hern putt. I thought that was really poor sportsmanship. I realize he was coming from behind but he was behind because of his poor front 9.

One case I believe was O'hern was within 3 feet of the hole, Tiger putted a long on and got it just within O'hern's ball. O'hern told Tiger to pick it up but Tiger made O'hern putt it. This happened a couple of times.

I watched a great deal of the matches and the Olgilvy Stenson match was a good one. Neither could get away from the other.

I was surprised so many of the big time players were knocked out so fast. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad we don't have to hear the Tiger streak talk anymore. After watching him at the Match Play, I don't care if he ever gets it. He is fantastic, fun to watch, but he was not acting like a gentleman. Him not conceding putts that were obvious concession putts, acting like a child on some holes, and refusing the interview after O'hern won the match and I don't know if I buy his excuse of not seeing the ball mark. It looked like he just pushed the putt.

Kudos to O'hern. He stared him down and beat him again. He was way shorter than Tiger on his distance, and I didn't think he had a chance. He was hitting hybrid into every hole just about.

Jody, \:o ooooh! Have you officially thrown your name in the hat to run as president of the TBC USA?

Match play is a game not only of physical strategy, but mental as well. I can remember in college giving opponents two or three 2' to 3' putts in a row and then not saying a word on the 3rd or 4th and their grip would get a little tight.

If we're playing and you give me a putt, why do I have to give one back to you? That's like giving someone a gift and being upset if they don't give one in return. If that's the expectation, it's not a gift, it's a condition. A gift is only a gift if it's not expected, desired or demanded in return. Giving a gimmee is a choice not an obligation.

But, you are correct, he should have shown a little more respect.
However, I'm not sure he should give a 15 footer until after the first putt.

I like Tiger, BTW.

Yes Bill, I did kind of go off on Tiger.

I like to watch him play, he never gives up, and I admire his dedication and drive. It is more of the way he handles himself on the course and the match play sort of did me in.

I didn't really care for the way he handled himself on the course and thought that he should've conceded a few holes after O'hern conceded to Tiger.

I was actually hoping to see him get closer to Byron's record but I would actually liked to have seen Byron's record stand. That man was a great example and had great class. I'm sure you wouldn't see him throw down a putter and I'm sure he appreciated the fans much more than many of the players today.
