So, what did you think of Annika's performance?

I'm interested to see some opinions on this. Personally, I thought she did great considering the amount of pressure she was under. Did you see those galleries at the Colonial? She fell apart at the end, but its obvious that she is very talented and could compete with the Men under the right circumstance. The Neanderthal types on the tour better get over it, because Michelle Wie is heading their way in five years and she doesn't have the distance limitations that Annika deals with.

I agree with your assessment. Annika started off strong and then fell apart late and I have to think it was all pressure, all mental. The more PGA events she has an opportunity to play in, I bet you'll see her get comfortable and settle into her own rhythm.
I know what you're saying about the Neanderthal types, and I certainly believe in equal opportunity, but I really think it's getting out of control these days. It's a media field day every time there's a woman or minority who is trying to participate somewhere that traditionally they have not been able to.
Take the Augusta / Hootie issue for instance. I mean this guy is pretty pompous. However, if I want to hang out with a bunch of sweaty guys smoking cigars and not let women into my club, well dammit don't question it. And ladies, I know there's the "principle" in the whole thing, but believe me, you probably wouldn't want to hang out in this club with fat-cat old-school farts anyway!
On that thought, I think I'm going to go try to become a member of our local ladies auxiliary club. Or better yet, try and sneak into the ladies locker room at one of the local golf clubs. What do you mean "ladies only.."
See you on the news..

GIARI, You sound like someone who feels one way but wants to say the right thing.. haha.. you should have been a politician.
My take is simple: If something (a golf course, club, restaurant, race track, whatever) is to be considered public, then anyone and everyone should be permitted entrance and the right to enjoy it). If something is deemed private, it is an entity being managed by it's membership and that is a special facet of society that is something I consider a right of sorts. A private club can choose who it admits and who it does not based on whatever critera it chooses.
And yes, the media tends to make a mountain out of every molehill it can find. I'll agree wholeheartedly with you on that. Just depends on whether it's a slow news day or not as to how far they will go to create and embellish a story.

wow, it seems to me you fellas are beating around the bush... lets face it, if a woman wants to do something that is traditionally a male thing to do or if she wants to do something that is men only then all she has to do is make a case and take it to the supreme court, of course she will win because women are equal to men... that is until they complain about joining the military or working 9 hour days because when that happens they are just poor little women! am i sexist or am i just a genious? thats up to me to decide and i say im a genious!

Well Golferdood, Since you spelled genIUS wrong..twice I would have to disagree with that part of the post. But, the rest of what you said is true, women want to do everything the men can as long as it benefits them. But as soon as they get the equality they complain about how unfair it is that they are treated the same way they should be able to do the same things as men with 'special' (easier) standards. This is also true with women in the military trying to join the infantry. I will say a few of them could handle it but most of them would just crap out. All women and anyone else for that matter who reads this should remember a very important saying....DON'T COMPLAIN. If you're going to waste your time complaining and not get up and do something about it you should be shot. Just a suggestion.
